The Problem of Subdialect Language Assimilation (based on the Buryat idioms material from Shenekhen and Nizhneudinsk)
Abstract
The article looks into the problem of subdialect language assimilation, the author describes the current state of two Buryat language island subdialects in the context of a linguistic shift in the non-ethnic environments such as Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region (PRC) and Russia. The peculiarities of linguistic and ethnic assimilation are revealed on the basis of two ethnoterritorial group dialects of Shenekhen and Nizhneudinsk Buryats, with the focus on linguistic changes in terms of phonological and lexical shift under the influence of Chinese and Russian.



Comparative Analysis of the Approaches to Euphemisms’ Research (based on Korean and Turkish)
Abstract
Language studying is impossible without studying cultural values of its native-speakers. A lot of linguists study euphemisms but there is neither their universal definition nor their specifications and classifications. The article is devoted to a comparative analysis of the approaches to euphemisms’ research in Korean and Turkish. The research material comprises articles of social and political topics in Korean and Turkish.



Studying Interference in Translation: Methodological Aspect
Abstract
The article deals with the phenomenon of stylistic interference not in the traditional sense of language contact, but within the framework of the theory-hypothesis of linguistic spectrum and the frequency-typological model. The English popular science articles on physics, their translations into Russian and originally Russian works of 2016-2017 were taken for analysis. It concludes that stylistic alignment in translation is necessary as it brings the translated text in line with the tradition of the target language.



Polycode Text as an Element of Propaganda (on the example of North Korean political comics)
Abstract
In modern geopolitics, one of the effective methods of defending a country’s interests is information impact. In such a way the necessary impact on the mass consciousness, the representation of a political event is achieved, and the potential adversary is also discredited. Mass media act as the most important space in which this is realized. As part of the information and psychological impact, polycode (creolized) texts are often used.



Language Interference: Evolution of the Concept, Current Understanding and Correlation with Related Concepts
Abstract
The problem of studying interference is very important in the field of language contact. Understanding the essence of interference is necessary for a comprehensive study of language interaction. However, despite the importance of this phenomenon, there is no consensus among scholars as to what can be considered interference and how interference differs from other related concepts, in particular borrowing. In this paper, interference is understood as all kinds of changes (including borrowing) that occur in contacting languages in any direction in speech and in the language system.



Symmetry and Asymmetry in the Translation of Adverbials in E. Wharton's “Age of Innocence” in English and Russian
Abstract
The article is devoted to the issue of literary translation of adverbials, which include the semantic feature of performing an action in their basis. A comparative study of the literary text made it possible to establish that during translation, lexical units are transposed using participial and adverbial turns. It is determined that the translation of adverbials is characterized by the presence of asymmetry of both the content plan and the expression plan.



Studying the Specificity of the Genre of Diplomatic Report in the Second Half of the 18th Century
Abstract
The article is a completion of a series of articles within the framework of a comprehensive study of the problems of Spanish diplomatic discourse in the second half of the 18th century. The article deals with the compositional and stylistic specificity, functional, pragmatic and strategic aspects of the genre of the diplomatic report. The article has been written using the methods of stylistic, communicative-functional and statistical analysis. The results of the study may be of interest to specialists in the humanities and social sciences.



On the Difficulties in Understanding the Iranian Taārof from the Perspective of Russian Speakers
Abstract
The article deals with the role of a special etiquette form - taārof - in the Iranian linguaculture, considering the national and cultural characteristics of Iranian people. The semantic and pragmatic features of the Iranian formulas of taārof and their equivalents in Russian are revealed. The present paper aims to identify the language patterns and forms of the Iranian taārof which are the most difficult to understand for Russian native speakers. The analysis revealed that the difficulties occurring in the understanding of taārof by the Russian people are due to linguistic, cultural, social, psychological factors and the differences between the two peoples.



South Korean Webtoon “Along with the Gods” as a Polycode Text: Verbal, Visual and Cultural Aspects of Translation
Abstract
The article analyzes a translation of polycode text, the first part of Chu Homin’s webtoon “Along with the Gods”. The work is a subject of great interest for research since the author borrows elements of traditional religious culture, namely the Buddhist and shamanistic views on the afterlife. Focusing on the characteristic aspects of the original work and features of the target language, the paper examines linguistic and extralinguistic translation challenges according to functional-communicative approach and approximation of the translation.



Heroization and Demonization of the Image of a Criminal in the German-Language Media and Trivial Literature (on the basis of a crime chronicle and a detective novel)
Abstract
The article deals with the analysis of the linguistic means that form the image of a criminal in the modern German-language crime chronicle and detective novel. The authors of the article pay special attention to the glorification and demonization of destructive social behavior with the help of certain language strategies that acquire an eschatological character of the use of absorption in a global apocalyptic context. Each of these strategies is described in detail and illustrated with examples in German.



Stability and Dynamic Development of Modern French Norm: Major Factors
Abstract
The French language proves to be very adaptive to cognitive and communicative demands of today. It demonstrates the ability to combine different approaches to language change: it resists innovation in some cases and allows continuous updating in others. Language stabilization is provided by the French Academy’s policy, while language updating is realized within modern institutional types of discourse. The present article describes language updating on the material of French commercial advertising.



The Problem of Translating the Name of an Action (Masdar) from Arabic into Russian
Abstract
The article is devoted to the problem of translating the name of an action (masdar) from Arabic into Russian. Naming an action, masdar, like a verb, has a category of processality, i.e. it designates an action as a process, in its development and movement. Arabic-Russian dictionary usually does not give such meanings of masdar, in particular, and because of the lack of their equivalents in the Russian language. The meanings of masdars given in the dictionary usually correspond to their substantive variant. The article discusses various ways of translating masdar into Russian.



The Linguistic and Cultural Concept of “Christ” in Spanish Phraseological Units
Abstract
The article discusses features of the semantic transformation of the linguistic and cultural concept of “Christ” as part of the phraseological units of the modern Spanish language (the Pyrenean version). Starting from the semantic reconstruction of the biblical image of Christ, the authors analyze the destruction of the primary semantic structure of the concept, its linguistic and extralinguistic prerequisites.



Metaphorization of Economic Terms in the Media Discourse of the Modern Chinese Language
Abstract
In recent years, metaphor has become one of the most pressing issues for research by linguists from different countries. As modern studies show, not only the language of fiction is metaphorized, but also the language of science and terminology, in particular. Based on the theory of conceptual metaphors by J. Lakoff and M. Johnson, the author of the article analyzes the metaphorical use of economic terms in modern Chinese-language media materials.



Peculiarities of Translator’s Commentaries as One of the Types of Metacommunicative Activity (based on modern Korean literature translations)
Abstract
In the process of intercultural communication, situations often arise when representatives of one culture incorrectly read culturally significant meanings from a layer of information perceived in specific discursive conditions. In the case of fiction, a translator can help avoid such an undesirable outcome. Using such type of metacommunicative activity as commentaries, he becomes an intermediary between the author and the reader and ensures successful implementation of the dialogue. The article discusses the structural and functional features of translator’s commentaries, as well as inappropriate examples of commenting on the basis of modern Korean literature translations.



Dynamic Processes in the Semantics of Phraseological Units
Abstract
The authors define a number of universal factors that influence the change in content of Chinese phraseological units in different languages and establish some trends in the development of their structure (change of a component’s structure in Russian, replacing a certain hieroglyph with a semantically equal one, changing the word order with reverse word order, reducing the number of elements in an idiom) and semantics (broadening of semantics, change of semantics and initial connotation of an idiom).



The Egocentric Semantics of the Chinese Directional Motion Verb 来
Abstract
The article is devoted to the semantics of Chinese direction motion verb 来 based on parameters identified by L. Talmy. According to the analysis of the motion event components interaction (Figure, Ground, Path, Motion) with speaker in the verb's semantics, its egocentric features were revealed. The material for the research is contexts from online Chinese corpora. The research methods include component and context analyses.

“Quarrel of Ancients and Moderns” in the Light of Philosophical Anthropology
Abstract
“The quarrel of ancients and moderns” which flared up at the turn of the 17th -18th centuries between the French “archaists and innovators”, is seen as a reaction of the intellectuals of the era of Louis XIV to their realization of the fact of the “foundless” of the man of the New Age. The search for ways to overcome “suspension” (Deleuze) divided the debaters into admirers of Antiquity and apologists for progress. The accumulation of pro et contra arguments spontaneously involved them in the ongoing discussion on the “problem of man” (Buber), which is the province of philosophical anthropology.



Gothic and Romantic in the Literature of Transitive Epochs (based on S. Clarke’s novel «Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell»)
Abstract
The article touches upon the problem of study of periodically “resurrected” at the turn of the epochs Gothic and Romantic aesthetic paradigms. The research was based on the study of S. Clarke’s novel «Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell». Such approaches as comparative-typological, genetic and cultural-historical were applied. As a result of the research, the reasons for the synthesis and interpenetration of Gothic and romantic artistic systems in the English literary process of the turn of the 20th-21st centuries were discovered and studied.

Dialogue of Truth and Interests in Culture
Abstract
The article is devoted to the consideration of the problems of the correlation of culture and morality through the paradigm of the relationship between truth and lies. The author draws attention to the difficulties in the processes of generating lies and the need to preserve cultural traditions and codes of the triumph of truth. The phenomenon of the dialogue of moral opposites needs to search for an instrumental structure of the universality of intercultural communication in the history of culture and modern reality. Universal and individual stereotypes are formed into planetary processes based on education and upbringing in conditions of dynamic transformations using information capabilities.



Comparative Analysis of Cosmogonic Ideas in Vedic and Ancient Chinese Culture: the “Cosmic Egg” and the Ancestor-Demiurge
Abstract
The paper carries out a comparative analysis of several motifs in cosmogonic myths of the peoples of Ancient China and Ancient India, they are the creation of the world from a “cosmic egg” and the anthropomorphic ancestor-demiurge who sacrificed his body. The paper studies ancient texts, presents recent studies by Chinese scientists and a linguistic analysis of Сhinese terms. As a result the paper reveals the commonality of cosmogonic myths and suggests its reasons.



China’s Modern Cultural Policy: Goals and Vectors of Development
Abstract
The article is devoted to the consideration of the goals and vectors of China’s modern cultural policy (2018-2022). The author aims to analyze some features of China’s modern cultural policy: orientation of the policy, goals of foreign cultural policy, and its cultural dynamics. The author analyzes some project documents on the modern cultural policy of China, some of the documents are translated from Chinese for the first time.

The rapid economic development in China is inextricably linked with the growth of consumption and the existence of various forms of consumerism. Despite the fact that excessive consumption is still mainstream in society, one can see the prerequisites for changes in the situation. The article considers new trends in the transformation of consumer values in the context of the interaction of traditional, official and youth culture.
