Psycholinguistic Aspects of the Study of Lexical and Grammatical Semantics in a Comparative Perspective: Methods for Analyzing Experimental Data
Butakova L.O.
Abstract

The aim of this article is to examine the lexical and grammatical semantics of words as a common property of native Russian speakers from different age groups (schoolchildren, students, and the elderly) in a comparative synchronic and diachronic manner. A method for analyzing the results of a free association experiment using the “people” stimulus is proposed: 1. Identifying the degree of standardization / variability of associative fields by establishing matching responses. 2. Qualitative and quantitative assessment of associates and establishment of cognitive layers based on the predication operation within the “stimulus  response” relationship. 3. Evaluation of the grammatical connections between the response and the stimulus in each associative field, establishing a trend line within one age group, and stability / variability across different age groups.

The Influence of Propaganda on the Axiological Ideas of the Chinese: the Formation of Value of 和谐 (Harmony)
Dubkova O.V.
Abstract

The purpose of the study is to determine the changes in the content of the value of 和谐 (harmony) among Chinese speakers, which are influenced by propaganda based on the analysis of the perception of outdoor advertising materials (posters from 2014–2019 and 2020–2024) that promote the value of 和谐 (harmony). The content of the analyzed value is relevant to the subjects (ii.), who perceive it as a traditional and at the same time a basic value of socialism, the significance of which is enhanced by social conditions, its relationship with other symbols, traditional and modern concepts, and realities in China. Polycode advertising texts expand the concept of harmony as a way to achieve the goals of state development and strengthen China’s role in the international arena. The analysis shows that traditional values are transformed under the influence of systematic visual propaganda, while maintaining their original axiological core.

Associative Method of Studying the Meaning of a Word and Modeling the Internal Form of a Language
Pishchalnikova V.A.
Abstract

The purpose of the study is to provide a theoretical justification and practical demonstration of the possibilities of modeling the internal form of a language (IFL) based on verbal associations. The object of study is speech action, and the subject is modeling the IFL based on the predication between stimulus and response. The theoretical significance of the work is determined by the argumentation of the possibility of modeling the IFL based on verbal associations, which is demonstrated through the analysis of speech actions. The study uses general scientific methods of analysis and synthesis, as well as the associative method. VFY as a generalized and structured complex of predications between concepts, as a historically established way of representing concepts in language, is realized in a specific act of predication within a speech act. The feature underlying predication actualizes VFY.

Pragmatic Comparison of Speaker’s Utterances in Russian and Chinese Invitation Speech Acts
Wang M., Liu L.
Abstract

Based on the speech act theory of J. Austin and J. Searle, this article employs a quantitative-qualitative method to analyze the utterances of addressers in invitation speech acts in Russian and Chinese, using data from the RNC and BCC. The aim of the study is to identify the similarities and differences in the structure and realization strategies of invitation speech acts in Russian and Chinese, along with an analysis of their underlying causes. The findings reveal that in Chinese, the initiating part reflects social hierarchy, whereas in Russian it reflects age / kinship; the supportive part in Russian emphasizes logic, while in Chinese it highlights emotion; and the key part is standardized in Russian but more variable in Chinese. The cultural characteristics of the two ethnic groups are unveiled: Russian culture values directness, while Chinese culture prioritizes indirectness and face-saving. The research holds practical significance for intercultural communication.

Socio-cognitive Theory by I. Kecskes and Intercultural Pragmatics
Guermanova N.N.
Abstract

The study aims at a theoretical analysis of the socio-cognitive theory developed by I. Kecskes, the leading American researcher in the field of pragmatics, in its application to the studies of intercultural communication. The research is based on the main works by the linguist written during the last 20 years. The conceptual apparatus of the socio-cognitive and intercultural studies, including such notions as interculture, common ground, egocentrism, salience and others is analyzed. The author highlights the theoretical potential of I. Kecskes’s works, focusing, in particular, on his dynamic model of meaning. In reference to intercultural studies I. Kecskes’s interpretation of linguistic creativity in intercultural communication is brought to light.

Pragmatic Strategies in Academic Knowledge Adaptation in Longreads
Kiose M.I., Ibragimov A.
Abstract

The study addresses the problem of pragmatic adaptation observed in the construal of academic knowledge in media discourse. It’s aim is to explore the construal and pragmatization of academic knowledge within a cognitive-discursive framework, and to further identify the pragmatic strategies of adapting the semantic structure and stance in an academic article to a longread. Featuring the distribution of semantic roles and stance types in the article and the longread, the study reveals two pragmatic strategies of intensification and mitigation appearing in the differences found in the distribution of roles and stance markers. The results show the prevalence in intensification strategies attributed to agency, spatial construal, higher probability of events in the construal of academic knowledge in the longread.

The Antinomies of Everyday Metalanguage
Bredikhin S.N., Kravchenko M.A.
Abstract

The purpose of the work is to comprehend and describe the phenomenon of everyday metalanguage in the context of the implementation of the fundamental linguistic antinomy “activity vs system”. In the study, using a descriptive method based on the analysis of empirical material presented by a corpus of statements with internal reference, it is shown that the everyday metalanguage, which is a functional implementation of natural language, “inherits” its fundamental antinomy. As a result, it was found that the antinomic nature of the everyday metalanguage manifests itself in its ontological features, forming the following dichotomies: 1) external subjectivity vs internal subjectivity; 2) discursive reality vs paradigmatic reality; 3) discursive freedom vs semiotic boundary.

Morpheme – Word – Construct: Discussion on the Status of the Abbreviated Component of Compound Word
Yemelyanova K.Y., Terkulov V.I.
Abstract

The paper describes the problems of interpretation and terminological nomination of the abbreviated component of compound words. The purpose of the work is to substantiate the definition of this unit as an abbroconstruct. Alternative concepts of verbal (as an analytical adjective) and morphemic (as an acromorpheme and an affixoid) interpretation of it are considered. The presence of both morphemic (reproducibility, status of a part of a word) and verbal (lexemic meaning, confirmed by its substitution of a word during univerbalization and expansion into a word during pseudo-univerbalization) features in the abbreviated component of an compound word is established, which does not allow it to be identified with either a morpheme or a word. It is proposed to use the neutral term “abbroconstruct”, indicating only the structural characteristic of this unit.

The Evolution of Neologisms in the Korean Language: From Sino-Korean Vocabulary to Anglicisms
Mozol T.S., Iriskhanova O.K.
Abstract

In the 21st century, the rate of vocabulary expansion in Korean (the South Korean variant) has increased significantly. Concurrently, English has begun to play an increasingly prominent role in its neologisms. This study aims to analyze the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of Sino-Korean vocabulary, as well as contemporary loanwords from Chinese and English, and to assess their role in the expansion of the Korean lexicon. The analysis is based on the Standard Korean Language Dictionary and collections of Korean neologisms from the last decade (2014–2023). The findings indicate a gradual shift in the primary source of neologisms toward English, thereby challenging the notion of stable Sino-Korean lexical dominance in the expansion of the Korean vocabulary.

Precedent Biblical Phraseological Units as Frames in English and Russian Linguоcultures
Goryacheva M.V.
Abstract

The aim of the research is to reveal the frame structures of precedent background phenomena within English and Russian linguocultures. The methodological framework employs cognitive-discursive, intertextual and contrastive analysis of corpus data from the Russian National Corpus and English Corpora. The study reveals that the biblical phraseological units exhibit a dialectical unity of stable conceptual cores and variable peripheral elements, which ensures their discursive adaptability. The corpus analysis revealed a tendency of biblical phraseological units to retain their religious and historical connotations in English, in contrast to the prevalence of their metaphorical reinterpretation in Russian. This variation is explained by the differences in the historical trajectory of the Bible within the given linguocultures.

Anticipation, Destruction, Rebirth – Mizoguchi’s Self-salvation in “Kinkakuji”
Sun S., Liu J.
Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the text of the novel “The Golden Temple” through the prism of the concepts of desire, destruction, rebirth, and self-salvation. The research material is the novel “The Golden Temple” by Japanese writer Yukio Mishima, based on real events. The research methods include psychological interpretation and textual analysis. The study demonstrates that the protagonist Mizoguchi’s transition from utter worship of Kinkaku-ji to its complete destruction is, at its core, a radical form of self-salvation, rooted in the Buddhist spiritual ethos of “destruction of attachment” and “detachment.” It also reflects Japanese society’s search for a way out of the post-war spiritual ruins.

Religious Metaphor as a Means of Expressing the Cultural Code in the Context of Information Warfare (using the example of Telegram-channels of the patriotic segment)
Klintsova M.N.
Abstract

The purpose of the study is to consider religious metaphor in media texts as a means of expressing the code of Russian culture and a tool for consolidating and mobilizing the audience in the context of information warfare. The following research methods were chosen: critical discourse analysis (socio-cultural approach), conceptual analysis, elements of quantitative processing of the material. The research material was made up of media texts from the Telegram-channels “Archangel spetsnaza,” “Sladkov+,” “Kotsnews,” “Wargonzo,” “Operatsiya Z: Voenkory russkoj vesny,” “Siniaia Z Boroda.” As a result of the analysis of religious metaphors, it was revealed that they actualize binary axiological oppositions in the collective unconscious, form images of “friends” and “strangers,” and have the greatest impact on the addressee.
