Abstract

The article deals with the role of a special etiquette form - taārof - in the Iranian linguaculture, considering the national and cultural characteristics of Iranian people. The semantic and pragmatic features of the Iranian formulas of taārof and their equivalents in Russian are revealed. The present paper aims to identify the language patterns and forms of the Iranian taārof which are the most difficult to understand for Russian native speakers. The analysis revealed that the difficulties occurring in the understanding of taārof by the Russian people are due to linguistic, cultural, social, psychological factors and the differences between the two peoples.
