The methodology of explanation and the degree of detail in presenting the Gauss theorem to students

Veretimus D.K., Veretimus N.K.

Abstract

in the physics course of Bauman Moscow State Technical University, when studying electrostatics and magnetostatics, much attention is paid to the calculation of electric and magnetic fields in vacuum and medium. First of all, the student is taught how, on the basis of well-known school knowledge, using the method of partitions and the principle of superposition of electric fields, knowing what the field strength of a point charge is, to determine the intensity of the electrostatic field created at the observation point by an extended charged body: an infinite or semi-infinite thread, segment, ring, sphere, ball, etc. To determine the strength of the electrostatic fields of charged bodies with spatial symmetry (flat, cylindrical or spherical), we use the Gauss theorem. However, when presenting this theorem, the teacher faces the following problems: firstly, in the course of higher mathematics, the concept of flow has not yet been introduced, and the theorem itself has not been passed; secondly, the recording of the Gauss theorem itself is not entirely clear to students, because they do not know the integral over a closed surface; thirdly, on At the moment, it is difficult to find literature in which the application of this theorem is considered in detail. The article shows the application of the Gauss theorem on the example of an infinite thread, a convenient auxiliary closed surface (Gaussian surface) is constructed and its choice is justified. In the process of solving, those parts of the surface on which the stress vector slides along the auxiliary surface are identified and it is shown that the flow of the stress vector through these elements is zero. It shows how to calculate the flow through the rest of the surface. Such a detailed presentation allows us to understand how the electric field strength is determined using the Gauss theorem. After analyzing the analyzed example, the student himself will be able to solve similar problems for other charged bodies, he will realize his ability to cope with the tasks set, which will increase his motivation for further studies.

Digital rehabilitation of convicts: a systematic review of the new reality in the field of penitentiary rehabilitation

Zorina N.S.

Abstract

digital transformation as a universal phenomenon has created a new reality in the rehabilitation of convicts. Digitalization promotes the development of social skills, self-esteem, rehabilitation and reintegration of convicts into society. However, many convicts are digitally incapacitated because they have never used digital technologies or because they were denied access to them during their incarceration. Due to the speed with which the digital world is developing, and the huge number of new technologies being introduced that convicts did not know before being incarcerated in penitentiary institutions, the world and reality are likely to change greatly when they are released. The prison system is aimed at rehabilitating convicts, but often fails to prepare convicts for release in our modern, technologically advanced society. The use of digital rehabilitation can facilitate a smooth return to society and ensure an improved quality of life after serving a sentence.

Free oscillations and visualization of solutions of their differential equations by experiment

Veretimus D.K., Veretimus N.K.

Abstract

using the example of the problem of free undamped oscillations of a mechanical system, the article shows how to teach a student [1] who has not studied solutions of differential equations in higher mathematics yet, to make a differential equation of such oscillations and find its solution. This possibility is based on an experiment [2], thought or organized literally by improvised means, as a result of which it is easy to establish the nature of the dependence of the variable on time, and then, if students have solid knowledge in the volume of a school mathematics course, to make a differential equation of such fluctuations. In fact, such an experiment [3] visualizes the solution of the differential equation of this problem, which facilitates the perception of the material and minimizes the dependence of the student's perception of this section of physics on the level of his knowledge of higher mathematics. Similarly, it is possible to predict the type of dependence of a variable on time for free damping vibrations of a mechanical system and obtain a differential equation describing such fluctuations. Students' understanding of the basics of the theory of mechanical vibrations in the course of general physics will help them to further assimilate the material easier when studying special courses on the theory of vibrations [4].

Correlating artificial intelligence and authenticity: EFL students' practice when using ChatGPT in academic writing

Pankova T.N., Yalaeva N.V., Sadykova N.V., Tomin V.V., Kolbasina A.D.

Abstract

this study analyses EFL learners' experiences and strategies when using ChatGPT in academic writing instruction. The paper uses a qualitative case study method with fifty-three EFL learners with different levels of language proficiency. The key findings show that ChatGPT facilitates overcoming uncertainty, clarifying vocabulary and making content suggestions, enhancing essay quality and allowing students to focus on unlocking their creativity. However, the stable balance between AI tools and human reasoning is critical to ensure trustworthiness. The ChatGPT system raises concerns about the validity of academic work, while stressing the need for ethical standards. Its limitations, such as creating overly complex sentences and lack of cultural sensitivity, require mandatory human intervention. Educators are challenged to develop ethical guidelines, focusing on critical thinking and authenticity. Training programmes for lecturers and learners on the responsible implementation of AI are vital. Despite the comprehensive approach, the small sample size limits the possibility of diverse, exhaustive generalization, and reliance on self-collected data introduces potential bias. Future studies should reach larger audiences, include diverse samples, and include objective measures to eliminate bias.

Integration of digital technologies and axiological approach in order to form the student's self-organisation culture

Dyorina N.V., Rashchikulina Y.N.

Abstract

in recent years, educational institutions, especially technical universities, are facing new challenges related to the introduction of digital technologies in the learning process. One of the key tasks facing modern education is the formation of students' self-organisation culture. This not only contributes to more effective learning, but also builds students' skills necessary for successful professional activity in a rapidly changing world. Self-organisation is an individual's ability to manage their time, resources and actions to achieve their goals. In the context of education, this means that students should be able to plan their own learning, set priorities and control the process of learning. It is important to note that the culture of self-organisation does not arise by itself; it is formed through the system of values that are instilled in students in the learning process. An axiological approach focusing on the formation of values plays a key role in the organisation of effective pedagogical work. The introduction of digital technologies in the educational process opens new horizons for creating a system that promotes the development of a culture of self-organisation. For example, the use of online platforms for collaborative project work or interactive self-assessment applications can significantly increase student engagement in the learning process. The values that students develop become the basis for their self-organisation. It is important that students realise the importance of self-education, responsibility for their learning and readiness for independent problem solving. In this context, educational institutions should create conditions for the formation of such values. This can be achieved through various forms of work: from group projects to individual research, where students can show their initiative and creativity. The formation of students' self-organisation culture in the digital educational environment of a technical university is a complex but necessary process that requires the integration of an axiological approach and modern digital technologies. Creating conditions for the development of value attitude to self-organisation not only improves the quality of education, but also contributes to the preparation of students for the challenges of the modern world. It is important that educational institutions realise their role in this process and actively work on creating an effective system that promotes the development of self-organisation culture.

Evaluation of students' learning motivation in the implementation of distance pedagogical technology for professional training of future physical education teachers

Sandakov V.E.

Abstract

the article presents the results of testing the distance pedagogical technology developed within the framework of the academic discipline "Athletics with Teaching Methods". The formative stage was devoted to the application and verification of the effectiveness of the developed distance pedagogical technology within the framework of the academic discipline "Athletics with Teaching Methods". Contrasting methods were used to identify the impact of technological intervention on pedagogical results in the control and experimental groups. The structured use of diagnostic tools to assess various motivational parameters laid the foundation for understanding the internal and external factors affecting student engagement in the discipline "Athletics with Teaching Methods". The diagnostic system effectively classified motivational factors according to seven different scales, providing a nuanced view of educational factors in the student cohort. At the formative stage, the experimental application of distance pedagogical technologies was aimed at using and enhancing the identified motivational factors by providing a more personalized and technologically enriched educational experience. This was particularly evident in the methods used in the experimental group, where distance learning tools were hypothesized to promote greater autonomy, engagement and professional competence among students. In contrast, in the control group, adherence to traditional pedagogical approaches provided a baseline against which the effectiveness of the innovative educational model could be assessed. Various assessment strategies – from oral presentations to practical demonstrations and group discussions – were integral to assessing the comparative impact of traditional and modern educational technologies on student learning outcomes. The study provides a critical analysis of potential changes in pedagogical strategies needed to adapt and optimally use distance learning technologies in the training of future physical education teachers. The results of this comprehensive study are expected to make a significant contribution to the debate on educational methodologies, potentially guiding future curriculum reforms in physical education teacher training.

Research on the influence of the rating system on applicants' choice of educational institution: a comparison of Russia and the USA

Sapozhnikov G.P., Lobanova E.V.

Abstract

the study on the influence of university rankings on applicants' choices in Russia and the USA reveals the dynamics between national education systems and global evaluation systems, where rankings, as “symbolic markers” of academic prestige, function both as a reflection of institutional quality and as tools for attracting applicants in different cultural and economic contexts. The Russian model, defined by its reliance on state-approved rankings (which prioritise scholarly output and national priorities), contrasts with the US approach, which reflects a ‘market’ orientation where students emphasise personal and financial gain alongside global reputation, thus creating a two-layered interpretive system. Through a comparative analysis of ranking methodologies and applicants' perceptions, the study reveals how “prestige” operates in a localised but globally influenced environment, pointing to an “academic economy” where rankings shape the competitive environment in ways that transcend national boundaries. The results, based on survey data and statistical comparisons, show that while Russian students focus their decision-making on research results and employer connections (indicating an orientation towards state-supported academic achievements), American applicants prioritise such indicators as employability, financial aid and the reputation of the institution, reflecting the ‘student-centric’ aspects of the decision-making process. The results suggest that universities in both contexts should rethink their strategies, not simply treating rankings as unchangeable assessment tools, but using them as active tools for positioning and global integration.Recommendations for institutions include increasing global visibility while maintaining national relevance (for Russian universities) and improving student-centred indicators (for US universities), with a focus on qualitative factors, such as the quality of the institution's reputation and the quality of its reputation. The analysis suggests that rankings, which are often viewed as rigid indicators, are malleable constructs through which institutions can align their positions in the rapidly evolving global academic market, thus transforming rankings from passive status reflections into tools for institutional growth and attracting applicants.
