Object Names as Carriers of Additional Semiotic Information (based on English everyday vocabulary)
Аннотация
The role of object names in the sphere of English everyday vocabulary - members of the categories “Nutrition” and “Clothing” - as carriers of additional semiotic information in semiotically marked situations is considered. The role of language in recognizing such situations is emphasized. The process of formation of the semiotic character of food and dress names in the English language is briefly described. The stated provisions are illustrated with examples from English-language fiction.

Designation of Areas of Law in English and Russian: Translation Aspect
Аннотация
The paper analyzes some English and Russian legal terms designating different areas of law. A contrastive analysis of definitions of some legal terms is being conducted. Dictionary translation equivalents are also examined as well as the terminology used in English and Russian professional literature. The paper concludes that the country's legal system influences the terms used in a particular area, the meaning of terms may be partially different in English and Russian, which in turn should be taken into consideration by a translator.

Creolized Text of the Official Telegram Channel of the Italian Ground Forces as a Means of Advertising
Аннотация
The article deals with the problem of the creolized text as means of agitation, advertising and popularization of military-patriotic values and a way to maintain the prestige of the Italian Armed Forces. The research material is a corpus of 100 texts taken from the official Telegram channel of the Italian Ground Forces for the period 2021-2022. The results showed that the texts of the Telegram channel represent a type of social advertising and have an enhanced impact on the audience.

Representation of Polynesian Linguacultures in Maritime Folklore
Аннотация
The article deals with the phenomenon of sea shanties and their intercultural features in the context of European-Polynesian interactions. The history of the emergence of this genre of maritime folk music, as well as the main functions that sea shanties served, are described. A general functional classification of shanties is also provided. The integration of Polynesian linguacultures into the texts of sea songs and the consequences of such integration are given particular attention.

Linguistic and Cognitive Aspects of the Poetic Word in Russian Youth Poetry (analysis of a series of poems «More» by E. V. Antropova)
Аннотация
The article sets out to consider the nominative and interpretative aspects of the poetic word. The undertaken linguo-cognitive analysis of youth poetry takes into account social and linguistic parameters of the socio-communicative group that comprises people familiar with works by young authors. The analysis serves to reveal the following linguistic distinctions: contextual interpretations result from inferences; precedent phenomena are used symbolically; widely employed stylistic repetitions contribute to meaning-making; a two-level dialogue - between the author and the reader, as well as between fictional characters - is constructed.

The article analyzes the strategies of negative politeness, as well as the verbal means of its implementation in German online communication on Reddit. Moreover, the author investigates the tactics of request, advice and their realization in posts and comments. The author indicates syntax, morphological, estimative and semantic phenomena with serve for implementation of negative politeness as social practices of Internet communication.

As a result of this process the English language spoken in London has changed rapidly. Аннотация
The paper presents the preliminary results of Cultural Discourse Analysis research on the integral image of partnership between a male and female individual. TV-series longitudinally constructs such an image by means of cinematic discourse. The revealed model of productive partnership characterizes highly reflexive relations postulated by partners as value basis stating their sustainable long partnership.

Аннотация
This article describes the genre of “educational flyer” as part of the German-language Orthodox discourse. The German-language Orthodox flyer is a popular genre in Germany, which is due to sociocultural, linguistic and historical factors. The article highlights and describes the key strategies and tactics peculiar to the German-speaking Orthodox leaflet. The choice of strategies and tactics is determined by the target audience. Some of the strategies and tactics are typical for all target groups, while the other part is used for a narrower audience.

“Pushkin’s Word” in the American Novel: “Golden Gate” by V. Seth
Аннотация
The article is devoted to the American novel “Golden Gate” written by V. Seth influenced by the English translation of Pushkin’s novel “Eugene Onegin”. The problem of the research is to identify the intertextual elements that connected the Russian and American texts and then penetrated the latter one through the English translation and then into the Russian translation of the American novel. The method of intertextual analysis used in the study revealed the intertextual connection of the four texts forming, according to the authors of the article, a kind of “Onegin space”, which reflects the connection of centuries and cultures.

The article discusses the concepts of interpretation, understanding and evocativeness, which are key to the analysis of theatrical and film discourse. Interpretation acts in creative activity both as one of the necessary conditions and as a cognitive mechanism for the formation of evocativeness in theatrical and film productions. The author pays special attention to the correlation of the phenomenon of efficiency and experience, evocativeness and super-tasks, and also analyzes in detail the types, levels and stages of interpretation.

Culture codes is one of key notions in linguocultural studies: they form the taxonomic basis for the classification of the object and thus help to systematize the research. Practically all world spheres can be conceptualized as the signs of culture in natural languages. The aspect of their universality vs. culturally specific characteristics is also considered.

Gesture Behavior when Generating an Ironic Statement: Gender Aspect

The article discusses the gender aspect of speech behavior when generating an ironic statement, as well as features of the gestural behavior of men and women when pronouncing irony in an oral spontaneous narrative. As a result of the empirical analysis, some tendencies were revealed in the gestures of men and women when generating an ironic statement, in particular, there was a quantitative predominance in the use of representative gestures, as well as a more frequent use of irony by men in an oral spontaneous narrative.

Multimodal Euphemisation in Comedies as a Cognitive and Discourse Phenomenon
Аннотация
The article develops the research procedure of exploring euphemisation as a multimodal and cognitive-discourse phenomenon. Featuring a series of Russian and foreign comedies the study identifies the major cognitive mechanisms of its realization, which are conceptual integration and incongruity. The humorous effect is achieved via foregrounded incongruity shifts (the term introduced by S. Attardo) which appear in different semiotic modalities and are complemented by backgrounded incongruities.

The Problem of Translating Chengyu from Chinese into Russian in the Light of the Lacuna Theory
Аннотация
The article is devoted to the problem of choosing a strategy for the translation and use of relevant translation techniques to convey the meaning of idioms, reflecting facts of Chinese culture, into Russian. To solve this problem, it is proposed to rely on the lacuna theory, an attempt is made to justify the use of translation techniques for transmitting idioms into Russian, taking into account types of lacunae. Examples of idioms possible translation into Russian are analyzed.

In the study, the author explores multimodal conceptual metaphor which can be found at linguistic, visual and sound levels, as a means of national and cultural cues transfer. Based on the video corpus of car advertisements, the author identifies the national cultural cues transfer modes, which are the use of culturally specific source domains in metaphors and their mapping models and also the use of culturally specific metaphor types.

Systemic-Functional Characteristics of News Information in Chinese and Russian Web-Portals
Аннотация
The paper explores systemic-functional characteristics of news information in Chinese and Russian web portals based on three discourse metafunctions (conceptual, interpersonal and compositional); both linguistic and visual (pictorial) modalities are considered. Contrastive analysis of systemic-functional characteristics of news articles with images helped identify the differences in multimodal context of web portals which appear in knowledge domains, news scale, news orientation, and information transfer type.

Two Approaches to Medieval Poetry: Antiquarians’ Editorial Practices in the 18th–19th Centuries
Аннотация
In 1760-1860 British scholars looked for the origins of the English metrical romances. At the end of the 18th century, in their writings and collections of ancient poetry, they explained their editorial approaches. Among the English collectors of early and medieval poetry, two editorial approaches developed under the influence of T. Percy and J. Ritson. The article examines their editorial approaches, as well as their influence on the 19th century editorial practices.

Dante in the Age of «Good Taste»: a Dispute between Saverio Bettinelli and Gasparo Gozzi
Аннотация
The article considers the dispute between S. Bettinelli and G. Gozzi over Dante’s Comedy in the context of literary criticism and aesthetic theories of both the eighteenth and preceding centuries. It is shown that Bettinelli, who called for a renewal of Italian poetry, drew heavily on the points made in the debate on Dante in the sixteenth century, adapting them to his contemporary esthetics - above all to the concept of “good taste”. The traditionalist Gozzi, turning to the heritage of past epochs, reinterprets and combines it with new ideas to be developed in Italian criticism in the nineteenth century.

The Image of a Migrant in Modern Russian-Language Fiction
Аннотация
The article examines the image of a migrant based on the material of modern Russian-language literature on the example of three pieces of prose: “The Days of Savely” by Grigory Sluzhitel’ (2020), “The One Who Came” by Narine Abgaryan (2015) and “The Second Life of Uwe” by Fredrik Backman (2012). The migrant is presented as an individual endowed with positive qualities, having a somewhat strange appearance and ready to compromise with the locals. It is concluded that the image of a migrant is subjected to a rather high degree of romanticization.

The article is devoted to the analysis of the “Soviet toy” as a phenomenon, a symbolic representation, an attribute of the Soviet era, as well as an alternative for the gaming culture of Russia. Shows the periods of formation and development of the Soviet gaming culture as a subsystem of the culture of the USSR and its special area - the culture of childhood. Listes the main socio-cultural characteristics of the “Soviet toy”, which are of practical and research interest at the present stage of development of Russian gaming culture.

Urban Semiotics. In Memory of Professor Pierre Pellegrino
Аннотация
In 2022, Professor Pierre Pellegrino (Lausanne, Switzerland), romantic and passionate, specialist in semiotics and theory of architects, talented scientist and organizer of science, head of the International Association of Space and Time Semiotics (IASSp+T), left this world. He was one of the first to explore the semiotics of urban architecture and urban space. Therefore, modern studies of urban semiotics are inherently connected with his scientific heritage. The most popular concepts of understanding the city as a sign system are “sense of place” (sensory perception) and “the city as a text” (mental perception).
