Abstract

The article explores the concept of AIDS in French political discourse using a propositional-frame method. The study aims to identify how political rhetoric shapes public perceptions of AIDS by integrating medical, social, and cultural aspects. The key propositions of the concept (causes, consequences, actions, evaluations) and the main frames – threat, struggle, and social cohesion – are examined. Special attention is given to language means of verbalization of frame structure of the concept under analysis. The results of research have showed that political discourse on AIDS in France acts not only as a description of a medical issue, but also as a tool for shaping public opinion.
