Аннотация
It is suggested to use derivational data (semantic, morphological and syntactic derivatives of a word) in revealing and distinguishing relevant and salient word meaning components. The methodology tested on the English word sand allowed revealing salient and relevant components in its meaning comparing them with the features reflected in its lexicographic definitions.
