Abstract

The article focuses on the cognitive metaphors functioning in German scientific ecological discourse. Based on the theory of the cognitive metaphor, scientific articles devoted to the climate change are analyzed from the point of view of cognitive linguistics. The author concludes that artefact metaphors dominate the scientific ecological discourse and that most metaphorical concepts under analysis are neutral. The climate is metaphorically represented as a mechanism, which is balanced and self-regulated.
