The study investigates the lingo-semiotic features of precedent utterances chronotopically marked by the Soviet epoch as actualized in modern polycode texts of the comic genre. The study aims to determine the means of discursive coding of precedent utterances related to the Soviet time. The thematic groups of primary sources of precedent utterances and the techniques of encoding references to precedent utterances in a semiotically complicated text are specified. The formats of interaction between verbalized references to the utterance and visual representatives of its author
or the image of the prototext, as well as the features of intra-cultural adaptation of the precedent utterance under the influence of current communicative conditions are identified.
