Abstract
The article presents comments on certain points of the Scientific and Technological Development Strategy of the Russian Federation (STD) and explains the priority in the scientific policy aimed at encouraging the formation of synthetic scientific disciplines in the light of the need to respond to large challenges, as well as at discussing the ethical aspects of the STD. The author clarifies the importance of public procedures to gain access to resources controlled by the state. These resources are necessary for advancement in the field of STD. Issues related to the development of international cooperation in academic research are noted.
