Abstract
The article discusses the current changes in the German lexical system on the basis of the analysis of German lexicographic and corpus sources; it also reveals the reasons for these changes. The material of the research is composed of the media discourse lexical units taken from the book Heutige deutsche Sprache - ein Zeichen für ihren Verfall? by the lawyer Ludwig During. The author of the edition views these lexical units as a violation of the German language norm, though a limited number of cases was confirmed in the lexicographic sources.
