The paper attempts to look at the actualization of metonymic models in the semantics of euphemisms in a number of nominative spheres in the Chinese language in the comparative aspect. The results of the research revealed that metonymic models can function both as an independent conceptual basis of the semantics of euphemistic units as well as a basis for further metonymic or metaphoric complication of an original concept accompanied by a change in the euphemistic potential of a unit.
