Resumo
Peculiar characteristics of the actualised cognitive-stylistic device of alliteration in the English-language publicistic and media texts are scrutinized. Extracts of up-dated American and British verbal printed matter and publications of information agencies are employed for detailed stylistic analysis. The significance and the novelty of the research can be explicated by a substantial place alliteration occupies in information sources along with such phonetic devices as rhythm, rhyme and onomatopoeia. Speech functions of alliteration are worded.
