Abstract
In 2022, Professor Pierre Pellegrino (Lausanne, Switzerland), romantic and passionate, specialist in semiotics and theory of architects, talented scientist and organizer of science, head of the International Association of Space and Time Semiotics (IASSp+T), left this world. He was one of the first to explore the semiotics of urban architecture and urban space. Therefore, modern studies of urban semiotics are inherently connected with his scientific heritage. The most popular concepts of understanding the city as a sign system are “sense of place” (sensory perception) and “the city as a text” (mental perception).
