Abstract
The article focuses on the comparative analysis of similar lexico-grammatical constructions in French and English, which have a precedent name of a popular contemporary political leader as a model. The combination of construction grammar analysis, attentional shift and corpus data enables us to make conclusions about the similarities and differences of French and English precedent names functioning as the models in media discourse.
