Audiovisual Translation as the Object of Research in the Field of Modern Translation Studies

Abstract

The article aims at reviewing the current state of audiovisual translation theory in Russia and abroad. The author focuses on various research paradigms in audiovisual translation studies and identifies the following types of research approaches: text-centered linguistic approach, functional-semiotic approach, functional-didactic approach, communicative-semiotic approach and communicative-functional approach. In conclusion, the author outlines a range of problems for further study using the methodological apparatus of modern translation studies.
