Verbalisation of the Evaluation of the Economic Situation in Great Britain on the Basis of the British Newspaper The Guardian

Abstract

The article focuses on the linguistic ways of evaluation of the economic situation in Britain after its exit from the European Union. Economic discourse which is a sum total of different communicative acts is represented by the editorial from the British newspaper “The Guardian”. The newspaper article implements the economic discourse evaluating different facts of economic reality. The analysis revealed that the consequences of Britain’s exit from the EU are viewed as extremely negative which is verified by an extensive use of lexical grammatical and stylistic means and devices.
