Abstract

The article deals with the phenomenon of mystical mindset in early German romanticism as a literary studies problem that faces a number of terminological and methodological difficulties. The article analyzes the etymology, definitions and key characteristics of mysticism, which is a special form of holistic cognition and sacralized experience. It reveals the specificity of mystical in Jena romanticism and provides a brief overview of Russian and foreign researches, which touch upon the problem of romantic mysticism and interpret it.
