Abstract
The article examines the phenomenon of political correctness in connection with concepts close to it, the causes and features of the occurrence of this phenomenon in Germany, as well as changes in the lexical system of the German language; some linguistic means and examples of the implementation of political correctness in the German-language media discourse are considered; the range of debatable issues in the field of studying this problem is outlined.
