Abstract
The creative work of songwriter M. Matusovsky is known far beyond the borders of our country. The inner world of the man of art reflects memoiristics – letters, memoirs, autobiographies. ‘Family Album’ – the only prose work of the writer, a kind of key to his biography, contains memories of childhood, sketches of the war years, reflections on creativity, impressions of travel. The purpose of the study is determined by the relevance of studying the life path and creativity of the outstanding songwriter in the context of culture. To achieve the goal, scientific methods of memoiristics were applied. The conducted analysis allowed to make a conclusion about the uniqueness of the authentic source – the prose of M. Matusovsky – to recreate a true portrait of a historical personality, his role in the formation of the creative genre, and culture in general.
