Abstract

The cycle of articles deals with the perception of the work of F. M. Dostoevsky in Sweden in the 1880s, when the Scandinavian countries became actively interested in Russian culture. In the second article, the method of quantitative analysis of Dostoevsky’s translations and the analysis of the “countercurrent” of so-called “crime literature” is chosen. The author pays particular attention to the reception of “Crime and Punishment”. The article mentions Swedish works of art written under the influence of F. M. Dostoevsky. As a result the reasons for the interest of the Swedes in F. M. Dostoevsky and aspects of his work that were relevant to the Swedish reader of the 1880s were found.
