Аннотация
The article deals with the speech rhythm of a particular Canadian population category – Chinese Canadians, who make up the biggest foreign language speaking community in Canada. Interaction of stress-timed English and syllable-timed Chinese offers a wide and perspective field for research of speech rhythm, in particular, the localization of word stress. The article provides the results of the experiment, which dealt with the interviews with Chinese Canadians. The findings show that Chinese Canadians’ speech embraces the rhythmic tendency, that is more typical of the Anglophone population of Canada.
