Development and research of a high-performance fan for a liquid-cooling system of a truck turbo diesel
Abstract
On the basis of performed mathematical study of fan units the authors defined the parameters of a high-performance fan of diagonal type for a liquid-cooling system of a 397 kW turbo-diesel of a heavy-duty vehicle and estimated its fuel consumption at nominal power mode.

Mathematical problems of calculating the multi-zone models of a cycle of internal combustion engine with spark ignition
Abstract
The article describes the features of mathematical models of internal combustion engine cycles which do not allow to put ordinary differential equations (ODE) of these models in the Cauchy form. The authors proposed a stable algorithm of numerical integration of ODE systems that are not solved with respect to derivatives, using Hermite splines and methods of nonlinear programming.

Use of FDK-124 coordinate photodetectors in laser analyzers of gas pollution by harmful impurities
Abstract
The article considers the application of laser light sources in exhaust gas mixture analyzers of automotive internal combustion engines. The authors show functional diagram of the installation where it is possible to carry out experiments on testing and selection of lasers for use in analyzers of gases contaminated by impurities. The possibility of using the coordinate photodetectors of FDK-124 type in analyzers of gas, polluted by microparticles, is presented as well.

Influence of parameters and conditions of rolling of elastic wheels on their power and kinematic characteristics
Abstract
The article considers the effects occurring in contact of an elastic wheel with rigid base; the issues of kinematics and mechanics of rolling of elastic wheels with cylindrical and toroidal shape of a cap on a rigid base during the rectilinear and curvilinear motion, with lateral skid and without it, on rigid drums. The authors identified relationships not known earlier, influence of parameters and conditions of wheel rolling on its power and kinematic characteristics.

Mathematical model of heat transfer in the exhaust system of gasoline engine
Abstract
The authors consider theoretical processes of heat exchange in the exhaust system of gasoline engine. From the results of calculations of the mathematical model of heat transfer processes, it is concluded that a detailed analysis of the dynamics of combustion of fuels requires strict consideration of all physical processes including processes of convective heat transfer between live gas and products of combustion and structural elements of a shell.

Computer-aided designing of turbine blades with parabolic contours
Abstract
In the paper the authors study the problem of turbine blades design. For computer-aided design in Mathcad the application program was developed as an element of the CAD system. A blade is shaped by three parabolas: back side– by one parabola, and pressure side – by two parabolas prescribing the maximum thickness of the profile. The program was tested on more than 30 profiles of blades for gas turbine engines.

Estimation of efficiency of internal combustion engine in terms of quality index of system operation
Abstract
The author presents the methodology of estimation of the quality of operation of internal combustion engines as a part of a complex anthropotechnical system. System’s factor of safety was calculated as well as the numerical values of quality level of the entire system and its subsystems. The conclusions are about the need of improvement of the internal combustion engines.

The way of the formation of diesel engine load curves by means of shutdown of operating cycles is considered in the paper. The authors give the corresponding relations of the internal combustion engine theory and dependence plot of the number of working cylinders and the total number of engine cylinders.

Ways to improve safety of vehicles using the parameters of angular orientation of steering wheels
Abstract
In the paper the authors put forward the concept of increasing active safety of automobiles by mean of forced speed reduction in the curvilinear motion taking into account the angles of the axes of steering wheels and the roll of unsprung masses. The authors provide the proof of the concept by the criteria of maneuver maximum speed with limitation by roll-over resistance.

Control of air pressure in the tires of cars
Abstract
In the paper the authors put forward the concept of increasing active safety of vehicles by controlling the air pressure in the tires of cars. The authors consider that the control of the air pressure in the tires is necessary because it directly affects the performance in handling and stability, especially automobiles.

Hydrostatic drive in transmissions of special self-propelled vehicles
Abstract
The authors analyzed the working principle of hydrostatic transmission with adjustable hydraulic machines. A method for determining the range of variation of the transmission ratio of the controlled hydraulic machines with power loss is presented as well. There are mechanical properties of hydrostatic transmission with adjustable hydraulic machines with sequential mode acceleration of its driven member. There is considered full flow transmission of a utility tractor "BIMA-300" (France), and its evaluation is given.

Study of oscillations of the automobile power plant
Abstract
The article describes an estimated model of a vehicle powerplant. This model takes into account the fluctuations of the power unit along and around the three axes and considers the impact of the transmission to the whole picture of the oscillations of the power unit. The mathematical description of the computational model of the power unit is presented on the example of a small class car.

Endurance testing of tractor friction clutches
Abstract
The authors offer the technique of forced life testing of tractor friction clutches imitating their mode of loading in actual operation. The forcing of endurance bench-testing of friction clutches according to the proposed method compared to the common performance is increased by 6 ... 10 times depending on the design of friction pairs, materials and conditions of loading operation.

Aerodynamic drag of radiator in unsteady air flow
Abstract
Nonuniform distribution of velocity of cooling air over the front surface of a radiator increases its drag. The paper analyzes the factors affecting the increase of aerodynamic drag under the influence of unsteady air flow. The degree of drag change depends on aerodynamic properties of radiator core, namely, the curvature of the graph of aerodynamic characteristics of a radiator and nonuniform air velocity field over the front of a radiator. In actual use, increase of drag of a radiator can be more than 20%.

Apparatus for production of methyl ether from vegetable oil
Abstract
This article is devoted to the study of existing methods and systems for production methyl ethers of fatty acids from rapeseed oil. Analyses and comparison are also mentioned. The description of production plant for production of methyl ethers from vegetable oil is given in the article. The authors describe its principle of operation taking into account rapeseed oil and production of methyl ethers from rapeseed oil. The advantages and disadvantages of each method and plant are indicated as well.

Analysis of kinematic and power parameters of rolling wheel propulsor
Abstract
The authors consider the relationship between kinematic parameters and energy properties of rolling wheel propulsor. The authors solve the problem of the existence of solutions for three-dimensional system "rolling wheel propulsor - bearing surface" when forming a bearing surface. The research also establishes the relationship between the speed of motion of the system and the nature of vibrations affecting ride comfort of a vehicle.

Transients in hydraulic drive of a fan for engine cooling system of a vehicle
Abstract
The article describes the mathematical model and the calculation of the transients in designed hydraulic drive of a vehicle cooling system. There is presented the verification of the mathematical model using results of test of hydraulic drive specially built for designed system. The author carried out the comparison of the calculated pressure transients with other ones obtained during the test of prototype of hydraulic drive for cooling of vehicle engine.

Generation of hydrogen containing gas on board a vehicle
Abstract
The strategy of improving the environmental quality of engines using hydrogen synthesis gas as means of chemical activation of workflow is discussed in the paper. The technologies for generating synthesis gas aboard a vehicle are also considered. The authors present the description of the experimental onboard system for producing hydrogen synthesis gas by thermochemical conversion of gasoline. The article contains the materials of its testing on a real car.

Use of biofuel compositions as an alternative to improve environmental and energy safety in transport
Abstract
The paper considers problems of energy supply and improving of environmental safety in transport, as well as one of the alternatives of their total solution based on the use of binary biohydrocarbon fuels. The authors considered basic physical and chemical properties of some fuel compositions and their impact on the performance of an engine. The results of testing of engines operating on two-component fuels are presented in the article.

General propositions for the integration of power supply system in a multiplex communication system of a vehicle
Abstract
The article describes the basic principles for integrating power supply system in a multiplex system of a vehicle. Currently, the stage of integrated systems with saturation function in every particular system transforms to the stage of the information technology with integration of different “intelligent” systems in the information environment of a vehicle. Combined sharing of information from sensors creates prerequisites to the distribution of intelligence in the various systems of electrical equipment, in other words, the ability of systems to make decisions on corresponding hierarchical level.

Self-exciting oscillations in clutches of automobiles and tractors
Abstract
The authors present the experimental results proving that in the real exploitation of a vehicle or a tractor self-exciting oscillations do not occur in friction pairs of friction clutch. This refers to friction clutches with asbestos, asbestos-free polymer and sintered powder friction pads.

Electro-hydraulic devices for control of transmission frictional mechanisms
Abstract
Electrohydraulic devices are widely applied for control of transmission frictional mechanisms containing multi-plate wet clutches or brakes. Depending on function and conditions of engaging there are devices of relay or proportional operation. The last one use electromagnets of proportional action where attractive force between rotor and stator depends only on current magnitude in a winding. Such devices can be direct action devices or servo-action ones.

Abstract
The authors consider the characteristics of operation regimes and control of tractors with electric drives taking into account dynamic properties of controlled objects and requirements to its quality. Objects are the traction drive, including a turn of a tracked tractor, drives of PTO and hydraulic system pumps, and the “engine-generator” system.
