Synthesis and Anticancer Activity of 1,2,4-Oxadiazol Linked Benzimidazole Derivatives

A new series of 1,2,4-oxadiazole linked benzimidazole derivatives 11a–11j are synthesized. Their structures are confirmed by ¹H and ¹³C NMR and mass spectral data. The products are tested for their anticancer activity against three human cancer cell lines, MCF-7 (breast), A549 (lung), and A375 (melanoma). The compounds 11b, 11c, 11g, and 11h are determined to be more potent than the control (MCF-7).
