U.S. Strategy on Great Power Rivalry
Аннотация
Since the end of the Cold War, U.S. national security strategy has undergone a remarkable evolution, judging by the policy guidelines declared by successive American administrations during this period. When the failure of attempts to integrate Russia and China into the U.S.-centric international order became obvious in the second half of the 2010s, a confrontational approach to relations with these powers prevailed in the U.S. policy. Rivalries with Russia and China, which are referred to as great powers in American political discourse, largely determine the essence of U.S. strategy nowadays. However, as an unfolding foreign policy debate in the United States reveals, there is a widening discord between ‘liberal interventionists’ and pragmatic conservatives regarding U.S. involvement in world affairs. The outcome of this controversy will entail far-reaching implications for shaping the grand strategy of the United States. D. Trump’s triumph in the U.S. presidential elections in 2024 will have a profound effect on the strategic choices Washington is to make.

Strategic Interaction Between China, the United States and Russia in Contemporary Conditions
Аннотация
This article focuses on the strategic interaction between China, the U.S., and Russia as well as risk management in the context of Western sanctions. In recent years, due to the changing international situation, sanctions have become one of the important tools in the great powers' game, especially in the relations between the United States and China and the United States and Russia. This article analyzes the strategic interaction between China, the US and Russia in the context of sanctions, reveals the motives and logic behind them, and explores the impact of this interaction on global security and stability. The article puts forward a series of risk management recommendations aimed at reducing the risk of great power conflict and promoting global peace and stability through international cooperation and multilateral mechanisms. By comprehensively analyzing the strategic interaction between China, the United States and Russia, this article hopes to provide valuable guidance for policymakers and promote further academic research on great power relations and risk management.

Strengthening US-Saudi Cooperation in 2024: Significant Shifts in the Military Sphere
Аннотация
The article analyzes the Yemeni direction of US policy in 2024, as well as the dynamics of Washington's interaction with Riyadh. It is noted that in July 2024, the United States reinstated the Houthis on its list of terrorists. The author explains the US concern about Russia's capabilities to arm the Houthis with modern anti-ship missiles in response to Ukraine's use of American weapons. The Houthis, according to Washington, are turning into one of the most formidable groups in the Middle East, much more ambitious than Hezbollah or the Iraqi militias. The article concludes that the US-led strikes on Yemen have so far failed to deter the Houthis or significantly weaken their military potential. The confrontation with the United States has turned the Red Sea into a new global hotspot. The reasons and possible consequences of Joe Biden's decision to lift the ban on the supply of American offensive weapons to Saudi Arabia on August 13, 2024 are analyzed. It seems that one of the main reasons for this decision is to reward Riyadh for its support of US efforts in regional security issues, namely Saudi Arabia's willingness to engage in long-term normalization of relations with Israel.

The Evolution of Washington's Strategy towards Georgia
Аннотация
The article examines the evolution of US policy towards Georgia. It identifies the reasons for the deterioration of relationships between the two countries and analyzes the situation around the parliamentary elections in Georgia, as well as Washington's reaction to them. A step-by-step analysis of Washington's strategy towards this country is provided, as well as Georgia's position taking into account its desire to pursue national policy and sovereign development in a multipolar world. At the same time, despite a number of serious disagreements between the two countries, US policy towards Georgia will remain consistent due to the country’s importance on the "grand chessboard" an indisputable fact.

In the current academic discussion on the effects of sanctions regimes on the economies of target countries and initiator countries, several significant methodological issues have been identified issues that were not as prominent in the past. When considering the impact of anti-Russian sanctions on the US economy, it is important to assess not only the economic effects but also the changes in geopolitical, informational, and ideological spaces. This determines the importance of applying an interdisciplinary approach in further research.

The Republican Party’s Ideological Transformation under the Influence of Donald Trump
Аннотация
The article examines the influence of Donald Trump on the ideology of the Republican Party. The changes in the identity and factional composition of the party that led to D. Trump’s rise can be traced back to the 2010s. From 2020 onward, Trumpism has become the dominant ideology of the GOP, and Never-Trumpers have lost representation within the party. At the same time, Trump’s supporters have gradually become the new party establishment. Since 2017, public opinion polls have recorded the emergence of a new type of Republican voter, whose views have been largely shaped by Trump’s presidency. In addition, a few powerful far-right factions have recently emerged in the GOP. While generally loyal to Trump, they often take even more radical positions on a number of issues. The article concludes that Trumpism, as both an ideology and a movement within the Republican Party, will retain its influence in the future.

Supreme Court Justice Louis D. Brandeis and the Development of Institutions of U.S. Constitutional Law

U.S. Supreme Court Justice L.D. Brandeis holds a very special place in the development of American constitutionalism. Rarely has any figure in the judicial and legal community received such public recognition as Brandeis, who was called the "Robin Hood of Law" and the "Defender of the People". As a judge of the U.S. Supreme Court from 1916 to 1939, L.D. Brandeis made great efforts to develop the concept of a "living Constitution", affirm the constitutional principle of equality, guarantee labor and social rights for citizens, and protect the constitutional rights of women. His contribution to the formation of American sociological jurisprudence, in particular, legal realism, is invaluable. The views of L. Brandeis, which were based on the concept of social liberalism, limiting the dominance of monopolies, protecting workers, and safeguarding the interests of consumers, remain extremely relevant today.

Richard Florida on the Alarming Trends of Urbanization and Its Socio-Economic Consequences (Notes on the American Experience for Russia)
Аннотация
The negative trends in the development of modern cities, identified by the famous American urbanist and author of the concept of the creative class, Richard Florida, remain relevant and necessitate a comprehensive analysis of the crises caused by rapid urbanization and the accompanying socio-economic transformations of society. The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated a number of alarming processes: an increasing number of employees of high-tech companies have switched to remote work, the importance of innovation activity centers has been decreasing not only specialists, but also the headquarters of IT giants have been leaving Silicon Valley. The outflow of affluent middle class segments and the relocation of offices have affected New York. These trends force us to rethink the methodology and goals of strategic planning in the Russian Federation, in particular, to analyze the adequacy of Moscow's urban planning policy and territorial planning focused on the development of large urban agglomerations in Russia. They also raise the question of the need to preserve the positive legacy of Soviet urban planning practice as implemented in Moscow, which has been highly appreciated by a well-known American specialist.
