Pedagogical ideas of educators and thinkers about female education in Azerbaijan at the end of the 19th century – at the beginning of the 20th century

Abstract

Azerbaijani educators considered the most important problems of our time to be the creation of a civil society based on democratic and universal values, the achievement of women's freedom in civic education, the opening of schools for girls to prepare educated mothers and educators, the achievement of social changes in society through education, informing people of their rights and responsibilities regardless of gender. They believed that women's access to science and education was of decisive importance for the restoration of their human rights. It was during this period - at the end of the 19th – beginning of the 20th century – that the issue of liberation and the restoration of their rights in society became the main subject of the struggle for progressive and reactionary forces. The ideas of Azerbaijani educators on women's liberation were widely reflected in many scientific and pedagogical works and textbooks, books and articles. These sources pay great attention to women's rights and women's education. Azerbaijani educators considered the most important issues of our time to be the creation of a civil society based on democratic and humane values, the achievement of women's freedom in civic education, the opening of girls' schools, the preparation of educated mothers and teachers, and the achievement of social changes in society through education. The profound ideas of Azerbaijani educators, graduates of the Gori Theological Seminary, about women's education found wide expression in the pedagogical heritage of Jalil Mammadguluzade, Hasan bey Zardabi, Narman Narimanov, Zardabi, Abbasgulu Bakikhanov, Firudin bey Kocharli.
