Resumo
In the process of adapting borrowings in the recipient language there may be not only a narrowing or expansion of semantic meaning, but also a connotative shift. Borrowing from English is one of the important sources of neogenesis in modern Korean. The problem of the adaptation of loanwords in Korean is not sufficiently studied in both domestic and foreign linguistics. At the same time, changes of connotation in borrowings has received the least coverage. Therefore, this paper investigates and analyzes the examples of English borrowings with connotative shift.
