Tactics of Pitch Convergence in Natural British English Conversation

Resumo
The article is concerned with the convergence of pitch contours in British English natural communication. The study examines the prosodic characteristics of backchannels and turn-taking in terms of their pitch convergence. The results of the study testify to the fact that interlocutors adapt the melodic components of their speech and implement different convergence tactics in the course of interaction, i.e. pitch alignment of backchannels, synchronic intonation and musical interval.
