Abstract

The aim of the study is to investigate the patterns of interaction between the categories of expressiveness and emotiveness in the English-language media discourse in the USA. The results of the analysis allow for the identification of 9 types of expressive-emotive complexes, possessing a pragmatic function of externalizing the author’s emotions. An important element of new media is the use of the lexical-stylistic device of comparison to intensify simple expressive-emotive complexes.
