«Was There Kolchak?»: the Reasons and Results of the Russian Naval Officer Participation in Political History
Novikov S.V.
Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the political and military activities of Admiral A. V. Kolchak during the Russian Civil War. As part of the discussion, the author addresses not only national, but also universal history, considering the experience of English and American colonialism in China. The author believes that Admiral Kolchak’s activities in Siberia are the reflection of the Anglo-French contradictions and attempts by the British and Americans to create a figure equal to Yuan Shikai, given the deformation of the colonial aspects of the Entente countries’ policy in relation to Russia and the growing contradictions among the anti-Bolshevik forces. The relevance of the attempt to implement the Chinese scenario for Russia increased or decreased depending on the course of formation of the Versailles-Washington system implying contradictions between the United States, the British Empire and Japan. Within the framework of the study, questions are considered about the possibility of Admiral A. V. Kolchak to influence other leaders of the «White Cause», his political and military dependence on the Entente countries, as well as the economic and social possibility of creating a structure in Siberia capable of defeating Soviet Russia.

A. V. Kolchak in the Historical Consciousness of Omsk Residents: «War for Memory» and Reconciliation with the Past (Second Half of the 1980s–2020s)
Naumov S.S.
Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of modern receptions and representations of historical memory about one of the key figures in the history of the Civil War in Siberia – the Supreme Ruler of Russia, Admiral A. V. Kolchak. The discussions of the last thirty years about his role in Siberian history would be logical to characterize the allegory of the «war for memory». Using a regional example, the main stages of memorialization of the personality of A. V. Kolchak and the accompanying «battles for memory» are outlined; the main characteristics emphasizing the uniqueness of each stage are presented. It is concluded that the memory of Siberians about the events of the Civil War has unique features, is distinctive in public reactions to various commemorative actions and options for broadcasting historical memory. The historical plot associated with A. V. Kolchak is assessed from an anthropological point of view as traumatic. The factors necessary for the successful overcoming of this collective cultural trauma and reconciliation of society on the issue of the Civil War are outlined.

Abstract

The purpose of the work is to analyze the image transformation of one of the White Movement key leaders — A. V. Kolchak — in Soviet feature films created from the late 1950s to the late 1980s. The basis for the study is in five films about the events of the First World War and the Civil War, in which A. V. Kolchak appears among the film characters. The theoretical basis of the study is a combination of anthropological and cultural approaches with comparative historical and biographical methods. This allow, by analyzing each film by the presence of the main elements (the central idea, the dualistic opposition of «us – them» and the dynamics of development), to understand the director’s vision of the Kolchak image in the context of the era (while not excluding existed general ideological attitudes).

Duty not to delete: towards the question of the rights of the digital person after death
Kazarina I.N.
Abstract

The article examines the concept and scope of a discipline called ‘digital thanatology’, which explores how death and dying continue in digital space, transcending physical life through data preservation, virtual memorials, chatbots, digital trace and remains storage systems. Digital thanatology prompts consideration of the long-term preservation of digital legacies after human death, as well as the ontological, legal, and ethical implications of managing digital remains. There are explored Augmented Eternity project of MIT, which aims to create digital avatars that can preserve a person’s identity after physical death and continue to interact with others. This technological possibility raises new philosophical questions about personal identity and the concept of digital immortality. The claim that the removal of digital remains can be interpreted as a second death is analyzed separately, as well as the moral obligations of the living to the digital legacy of the dead.

Cyberthanathology: death and beyond in the digital age
Beaunoyer E., Guitton M.J.
Abstract

The preponderance of technology and digital connectedness has revolutionized every aspect of humans’ social life, including death. Digital technologies are reshaping how the interactions between the living and the dead are negotiated. Indeed, emerging technologies are not only embedded in end-of-life, death, and grief experiences, they are also changing the global context in which these phenomena take place. Although interactions between death-related phenomena and technologies are not new, the ubiquitous presence of digitalized spaces drastically increased the salience and the magnitude of these interactions. To further and structure the understanding of these interactions, we introduce the concept of cyberthanatology as the articulation of death and all related phenomena with and within the digital space. In the light of this framing concept, this paper explores the topology of online death-related behaviors and phenomena, reviews the current state of knowledge on the online representation of death and grief, and identifies the challenges that will have to be faced in the future in order to optimally integrate the understanding of death-related phenomena in the larger field of cyberpsychology. By promoting and nurturing the dialog between the fields of cyberpsychology and death studies, cyberthanatology research will not only result in theoretical advances but also contribute to generate practical knowledge to help people deal with death and grief in the modern technological age.

Against Language Games
McGinn C.
Abstract

The essay presents a critique of the Wittgensteinian concept of language-games. A distinction is made between the technical and literal use of the term ‘game’ within Wittgenstein’s philosophy of language. It is demonstrated that the concept of language-games is constructed by analogy with games that literally involve the use of linguistic expressions. Arguments are given to show that ‘game’ is an unfortunate analogy for language use. On the one hand, it is intended to show the active and heterogeneous nature of language, which is achievable through other comparisons (e.g. with sport or dance). On the other hand, it misses the point that in a few contexts language use is not a game.

Research of the innovation features of the organization’s in the sectors of breeding livestock in 2003–2023, considering the analysis of the intellectual activity results
Leun E.V., Pchelkin S.E., Gupalova T.N.
Abstract

The article analyses the peculiarities of the organizations’ innovation activity on the basis of the results of the Russian, the USA and the European Union intellectual activity in three branches of animal breeding, as agricultural mammals, poultry farming and beekeeping.

The so-called ‘under-patenting’ effect is noted for Russia, which affects the organizations’ reporting. In order to compensate, it is proposed to introduce and use parameters in the form of patent and scientific Z backlog (potential, stock, reserve) and high-tech Zht backlog, determined on the basis of patents and the results of R&D, R&D, R&DCTD and presented in dissertations.

The authors demonstrate methods for calculating both parameters. Calculations of the innovation efficiency parameter during 2003–2023 for the USA, the European Union and Russia are carried out, considering the application of the newly implemented parameters.

Development and operationalization of the university strategy
Khodoreva E.V., Shalay V.V.
Abstract

The article considers methods and approaches to setting strategic goals of the university and their cascading into specific, measurable projects, activities and actions with clear performance indicators, which allows building a clear chain from the vision and mission of the university to the concept of performance of specific actions and processes. These processes contribute to the effectiveness of management and monitoring.

The authors consider the specifics of strategy building for higher education institutions, which are large in scale and are regulated by organisations that have to conduct strategic planning in a highly long-range predictive situation. The authors identify the problem of effective operationalization of the strategy of universities and propose a mechanism for deploying goals and a mixed approach to writing a strategy, the combination of which makes it possible to maximize the involvement of the university staff in the strategizing process, which helps to increase motivation and employee engagement. The scientific innovation of the article is the description and approbation of the hybrid approach to creating strategy, which allows creating a unique strategic positioning due to the involvement of university managers and employees.

The main research methods are the research of the experience of the leading universities in the country, through the analysis of their strategies and development programs; the analysis of the problems of writing strategies of universities; approbation of the proposed approaches in the strategy development of Omsk State Technical University.
