Development of Sociocultural Competence through Gamification in Primary School

Abstract

The article deals with the role of gamification used in the lessons of Spanish as a second foreign language in primary school with the aim of developing sociocultural competence. A special focus is given to the use of game elements to introduce basic cultural concepts. The article provides a number of exercises meant to develop sociocultural competence, as well as language skills. In conclusion, the article suggests introducing elements of gamification as an effective method of developing sociocultural competence in the process of teaching a second foreign language to primary school learners.
