Abstract
the article deals with the main peculiarities of the storytelling motif in the structure of the novel by a contemporary Italian writer Donato Carrisi “La donna dei fiori di carta”. The author of the article highlights the peculiarities of formation of the writer’s personality and his life experience. The place of the above-mentioned novel in among other works by Donato Carrisi is discussed. The functions of storytelling are analyzed which enables the author of the article to reveal the main principles of storytelling in the novel. It performs different functions in the structure of the text, such as plot formation, character formation, didactic, dynamic, and gnoseological. This article may serve as a basis for further research of Donato Carrisi’s novels exploring intertextual links in his works.
