Language as a tool for constructing cultural identity in the context of intercultural communication

this article explores the role of language as a tool for constructing cultural identity in the context of intercultural communication. The study is based on an interdisciplinary approach combining sociolinguistics, cultural anthropology, and intercultural communication theory. Special attention is paid to the comparison of Russian and Chinese languages as means of expressing identity, as well as to the analysis of linguistic markers that reflect cultural values and models. The novelty of this research lies in the comparison of Russian and Chinese linguistic and cultural contexts, which reveals common trends and specific features of how language influences identity in different sociocultural settings. The conclusions are drawn from the analysis of empirical data, including case studies from diasporic and educational environments. The article presents both universal mechanisms of identity formation through language and culturally specific features of the Russian and Chinese linguistic worldviews. The results of the study can be useful for the development of educational programs aimed at fostering intercultural competence and preserving linguistic diversity.
