About the journal

The Journal was founded in October 1992 on the basis of the Research Institute of Regional Studies at Mordovia State University. The initiator of the publication and its Editor-in-Chief for many years was the Russian philosopher and sociologist, public and political figure, organizer of science and education, D.Sc. (Philosophy), Professor Aleksandr I. Sukharev (1931-2010). At the turn of the 80-90s of the 20th century, he formed an integral scientific direction called "regionology", associated with the systematic study and discussion of the regularities of harmonious and interrelated development of regions in a unified federal state.

The mission of the Journal is to cover current problems of regional politics, economics and sociology, analyze the complex development of regions of the Russian Federation and foreign countries, as well as presenting the results of original political, sociological and economic research.

The target audience – researchers and scientific workers who study the problems of regional politics, economics and sociology at the theoretical and empirical levels. The publication is addressed to specialists and experts of sociological and information-analytical services of state and public organizations, commercial structures; it is aimed at all those who are interested in the problems of politics, economics and sociology of regions.

Territory of distribution: Russian Federation, foreign countries.

Languages of publications – Russian, English.

Periodicity of issues – quarterly.

The journal is included in the List of Peer-Reviewed Scientific Editions, in which the main scientific results of dissertations for the degree of candidate of sciences, for the degree of doctor of sciences should be published, in scientific specialties and their corresponding branches.
