Extracurricular activities of a student as a factor in the formation of career prospects (based on the materials of a sociological study in Barnaul)
Abstract
The article examines the extracurricular activities of a student as a factor in the formation of career prospects. The key features of extracurricular activities of modern students in their connection with the phenomenon of professional development and career prospects are revealed. Different types and forms of extracurricular activities are also considered, as well as their impact on the professional socialization of an individual. The question is raised about those general cultural and professional competencies that are fundamentalized in the process of implementing extracurricular activities, determining the formation of career prospects. The data obtained during the sociological research allowed us to characterize, on a subjective and objective level, the relationship between the extracurricular activities of an individual and the process of forming his career prospects. The sample consisted of 313 respondents, of whom 300 were participants in the questionnaire, and 13 were experts participating in in–depth interviews. The methodological basis of this work is represented by a combination of T. Parsons' structural functionalism and symbolic interactionism. The methodology of sociological research was based on a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, with the qualitative method represented by an expert survey in the form of an in-depth interview, and the quantitative method represented by a massive face-to-face and online survey of representatives of modern students. The data obtained made it possible not only to characterize extracurricular activities as a factor in shaping career prospects, but also to formulate full-fledged recommendations aimed at improving extracurricular activities for the professional and personal socialization of a modern student. Extracurricular activities in a modern university are an important component of an individual's social adaptation to the university environment, as well as one of the most important determinants of choosing a future professional development path. Further research in this area is necessary, because, on the one hand, the study of extracurricular activities as a factor in shaping career prospects requires the search for a universal methodological approach with sufficient extrapolation potential. On the other hand, it makes sense to conduct similar studies in other regions of our country, identifying the specific and universal characteristics of extracurricular activities as a factor in shaping career prospects.

The impact of mass media on the formation of value orientations among students (based on research materials from the city of Barnaul)
Abstract
Mass media play a significant role in shaping the value system of modern youth, serving as a crucial agent of socialization in the context of a digital society. In contemporary conditions, social networks, internet platforms, and digital media are becoming key sources of information, models of behavior, and benchmarks for young people. The study is dedicated to analyzing the influence of the media space on the value orientations of student youth in the city of Barnaul, investigating how digital channels shape perceptions of goodness, success, responsibility, and personal freedom. Special attention is given to the transformation of traditional values such as family, friendship, and education under the influence of media. The aim of the work is to identify the direction, specifics, and mechanisms of the digital environment’s impact on the structure of students' value orientations, as well as to determine the media factors that most actively influence the formation of moral, social, and behavioral attitudes. A methodology was developed, and a sociological study was conducted among the student youth of Barnaul (aged 18–25). A total of 360 respondents participated in the survey. This research allows for a deeper understanding of the mechanisms of digital media influence, the identification of students’ priority value positions, and the assessment of the role of modern information channels in shaping the worldview of youth in Barnaul. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the empirical confirmation that digital media serve as the dominant agent of socialization, gradually displacing traditional institutions. In the regional context of Barnaul, the phenomenon of the transformation of traditional values under the influence of the media environment has been identified and described for the first time. For example, the value of family, while retaining formal significance (65%), takes the form of a commercialized media product. The main findings of the study indicate a noticeable shift in students' value orientations: according to the respondents, the cult of money (78%), the pursuit of pleasure (70%), and power (60%) dominate, which is related to the perception of media content in the contemporary digital space. Furthermore, 82% of participants believe that the crisis of values among modern youth is largely due to the influence of social networks. The practical significance of the results lies in justifying the need to introduce media literacy programs into the educational process of higher educational institutions, aimed at developing critical thinking and forming a conscious, sustainable value system among student youth.

The impact of diasporas on the regulation of migration processes: foreign experience
Abstract
The subject of the research is a systemic analysis of the role of diaspora communities as active subjects in the formation and implementation of migration policy in transnational spaces. The focus is on institutional mechanisms, network resources, and strategies of influence that diasporas exert on migration regulation in various political and legal contexts. The comparative analysis involves countries with established immigration regimes (the USA, Canada), a supranational formation (the European Union), and countries of migration origin (China, India), exploring forms of diaspora participation—from political lobbying and expert support to the implementation of integration and development programs. Special attention is given to analyzing the bidirectional nature of diaspora influence: on one hand, as actors impacting the migration agenda of host countries, and on the other hand, as strategic partners of countries of origin in matters of national development and soft power. The study is based on an interdisciplinary theoretical and analytical approach that integrates concepts from migration sociology, transnational studies, and social capital theory. The primary method employed is comparative qualitative analysis of cases selected based on maximum contrast and theoretical representativeness. The analysis relies on secondary data, including academic publications, official documents, and international migration reports. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the comprehensive analysis and systematization of the role of diasporas as independent actors in migration governance through the lens of concepts such as transnational social fields, diaspora governance, and social capital. The work consistently argues for a shift in understanding diasporas as full-fledged political subjects possessing their own agency and capable of actively influencing the migration policies of both host and origin countries. The comparative analysis of different models of interaction between states and diasporas has revealed a universal trend toward recognizing diasporas as strategic partners in migration regulation. The key conclusion of the study is that contemporary migration governance is becoming increasingly multi-actor and transnational in nature, where diasporas perform critically important functions in reducing the transactional costs of migration, lobbying for the interests of migrants, shaping the public agenda, and mediating between various levels of government. Their resources in the form of social capital, network structures, and transnational ties become a significant factor in shaping migration policy.

Public oversight in the field of urban environment improvement in a metropolis
Abstract
The process of urbanization is leading to rapid urban growth and the development of traditional agglomerations and megacities. To take into account the opinions of city residents, various urban improvement projects are being implemented in Moscow, a key aspect of which is the incorporation of citizens in political decision process. However, the shortcomings of public oversight practices—their formal limitations (public information) and substantive uniformity (online voting)—are particularly evident here. Therefore, it was necessary to complete a study on the practice of public oversight in the area of urban improvement in Moscow. The purpose of the study is to examine the specifics of public oversight practices based on assessments by local residents and government agencies. The key research method chosen was a questionnaire survey of Moscow residents (N=699, multi-stage quota sampling, 2022). The article also presents the results of an expert survey (N=144, target sample, 2024). The research's novelty lies in clarifying the foundations of public oversight from a sociological perspective. Systematizing methodological approaches to public oversight phenomena, it provides an interpretation and identifies its distinctive features. Empirically, the challenges of implementing public oversight and barriers to engaging individual employees in these practices are identified. Dysfunctions of digital channels for public participation in urban improvement projects are identified. The author is taking steps to develop public oversight in urban development regions. The author presents social technologies for developing public oversight in the city's management, as well as a model for implementing public oversight in the area of urban improvement, reflecting the current conditions of the metropolis. The model includes amendments to assess the level of detail required by government agencies for developing public control.

On the strategy of spreading the influence of the Chinese language abroad through youth subculture, using the example of the dissemination of Mo Xiang Tongxu's work "Blessing of the Celestials" in Russia
Abstract
This study examines the phenomena and mechanisms through which Chinese youth subcultures achieve "counter-trend dissemination" in the context of strict cultural control, using the example of the spread in Russia of the "danmei" novel "Blessing of the Immortals" by Chinese internet writer Mo Xian Tong Xiu. The research shows that despite strong social and political rejection of LGBT materials in Russia, perceived as a "threat to fertility and spirituality," Mo Xian Tong Xiu's works enjoy significant success among Generation Z. This seemingly paradoxical phenomenon is explained by two key mechanisms: the socio-psychological theory of "reactive resistance" (harsh pressure politics encourages rebellion, prompting youth to actively seek out banned materials) and the concept of "antifragility" (strict control reinforces networks of underground subcultures) within the resilience of the system. This research demonstrates that Chinese youth subcultures, due to their emotional foundation, engaging narratives, and precise alignment with youth culture psychology (rebellion and the quest for individuality), are capable of circumventing geopolitical and value conflicts often found in mainstream cultural products, achieving "flexible breakthroughs" and "spontaneous cultural penetration." In comparison, traditional models of promoting the Chinese language and culture, represented by Confucius Institutes, mainly attract an audience with a high level of interest and struggle to engage those who have not previously studied Chinese. Therefore, the article argues that China's external cultural dissemination should pay more attention to the emotional impact of youth subcultures, through high-quality, culturally distinctive, and spiritually fulfilling entertainment products (such as online literature, games, cartoons, etc.), stimulating spontaneous interest among foreign youth in the Chinese language and culture, thereby overcoming the challenges of traditional promotion and achieving broader and more effective cultural dissemination and recognition abroad.
