The journal was founded in 2007 as the "Bulletin of the Mari State Technical University" Ser.: "Forest. Ecology. Environmental management". Since 2012, in connection with the renaming of the university, the journal is called "Bulletin of the Volga State Technological University". Ser.: "Forest. Ecology. Environmental management". The number of issues in the period from 2007 to 2012 was three issues.

Since 2013, the magazine has been published four times a year.

Since 2019, the editorial board has been expanded to 34 people
