GRIGORY ROSENBLAT (1909-1963): ACADEMIC PROFILE AND KEY WORKS ON THE INTEGRATION OF THE STUDY OF LITERATURE AND FINE ARTS

SAPANZHA O.S.

Abstract

The study of academic biographies is an important component of the humanities today. Determining the key stages of a person’s life and building a research profile of scientists who have contributed to the development of Russian science is part of this process. The article is based on archival materials from the Central State Archive of Saint Petersburg and the Personnel Archive of the Herzen State Pedagogical University. It presents the academic biography of Grigory Rosenblat (1909-1963), a philologist, teacher, and developer of the concept of integrating visual arts into the study of literature in schools. It is shown that the scientist’s scientific activity is inextricably linked with the Herzen Leningrad Pedagogical Institute as an emerging centre for studying the problems of art education in the context of interdisciplinarity.

A SKETCH OF A MOVIE COSTUME IN THE CONTEXT OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION: FROM GRAPHIC ART TO MEDIA FORMS

SLUTSKAYA P.G.

Abstract

The article explores the evolution of the status of the costume designer’s sketch for cinema - from an official artistic idea to an independent work of art in the context of the digital transformation of filmmaking. The article analyses how digital tools (CGI, 3D modelling, generative AI) transform the process of creating a costume, blurring the boundaries between a material object and its digital counterpart, and how this radically changes the ontology and perception of the sketch itself. It is proved that a sketch, especially in its digital and hybrid forms, acquires its own aesthetic and philosophical value, becoming a unique artifact that captures the moment of a creative idea before it is simulated in CGI or materialised. Its role as a “boundary object” between the idea and the embodiment is emphasised. The article also examines the growing phenomenon of digital art collecting (NFT, digital installations, tokenised sketches) as proof of public recognition of the autonomous value of intangible artistic objects.

MEDVEDEVA E.V.

Abstract

The outstanding contribution of A. B. Goldenweiser to the development of musical culture is largely due to his unique achievements in the field of composition, clearly manifested in the piano cycle “In a Child’s Life”. For the first time, the article reflects the basic characteristics of these principles using the example of the cycle “In a Child’s Life,” which are the embodiment of the creative appearance of the composer and pianist. It is emphasised that it is not only an example of the composer’s style, reflecting the performing principles of A. B. Goldenweiser, but also a valuable methodological and practical material for the professional formation of novice musicians. A detailed performing and theoretical analysis of the work is significant for comprehending the creative nature of the wonderful composer, pianist and teacher-thinker.

STRUCTURAL CHANGES IN RUSSIAN INTERNET SLANG

ZHANG A.

Abstract

This article analyses structural changes in Russian internet slang from a diachronic perspective. A comparative study of word-formation patterns in 2014 and 2024 reveals that morphological derivation has remained consistently productive, while semantic derivation has become increasingly prominent. In contrast, the productivity of marginal word-formation models - such as phonetic-graphic distortions, onomatopoeia, and artificially coined lexemes - has significantly declined. Loanwords, meanwhile, have emerged as the primary source of lexical enrichment, signaling a shift in the mechanisms driving the development of Russian internet slang.

“SOLFEGGIO COURSE” BY TEACHERS OF THE CHINESE CONSERVATORY AS PART OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A MODERN APPROACH TO TEACHING SOLFEGGIO IN THE PRC

WEI S.

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to analyse the “Solfeggio Course” textbook by teachers of the Chinese Conservatory of Music, which is the basis for teaching solfeggio at the highest level of music education in China. The textbook is based on the idea of a step-by-step system of teaching solfeggio; it synthesises the best aspects of Western methods of teaching this academic discipline with national traditions. This is manifested in the parallel mastering of the European major-minor tonality and pentatonic modes with the involvement of musical material from the works of European composers and Chinese music. When choosing teaching methods, the specifics of thinking of Chinese musicians are taken into account, and integrative connections of solfeggio with other academic disciplines of the musical-theoretical cycle are also involved. The “Solfeggio Course” textbook allows you to effectively master the discipline of solfeggio in accordance with modern European requirements for it.

THE PRACTICE OF PROSKYNESIS IN CLASSICAL GREECE ACCORDING TO HISTORIOGRAPHY, DRAMATURGY, AND PHILOSOPHICAL TREATISES

ONISHCHENKO E.S.

Abstract

This article examines the practice of proskynesis in classical Greece based on historical, dramatic, and philosophical sources. The author analyses the etymology and usage of the verb προσκυνέω, emphasising its original meaning as a religious act of worship toward the gods, particularly chthonic deities. Through an analysis of works by Aeschylus, Sophocles, Aristophanes, and other authors, it is demonstrated that the Greeks accepted proskynesis only when directed at deities, considering it humiliating when addressed to mortals. Particular attention is paid to episodes in which proskynesis is depicted as a symbol of subservience and denial of freedom, especially in the context of Greco-Persian relations. The article highlights that the refusal to perform proskynesis was both a religious and political-ethical act for the Greeks. In conclusion, it is proposed that proskynesis in Greek culture was not a specific gesture, but a set of ritual non-verbal acts expressing reverence, whose meaning evolved under the influence of historical circumstances and cultural interactions.

EMIL GILELS’ FIRST TEACHER YA. I. TKACH AND HIS ROLE IN THE ARTISTIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE PIANIST

HAN Q.

Abstract

Modern musicology shows a significant interest in studying the ancestry of great musicians. This allows us to gain a deeper understanding of the origins of the performing style of outstanding pianists and to comprehend the process of artistic continuity between generations. Like many remarkable Russian pianists, the outstanding virtuoso Emil Gilels was influenced by various pianistic schools. The famous G. G. Neuhaus played a decisive role in the formation of the artist’s performing style. It is also interesting and valuable to appreciate the influence that Gilels’ first piano teacher had on him. Ya. I. Tkach belonged to the rather small Chopin branch of European pianism. Despite certain historically and personally determined pedagogical costs, it was Tkach who laid the foundations of pianistic culture for the young musician and perspicaciously predicted his brilliant artistic future.

COMMUNICATIONS IN SOVIET-CHINESE ART DIALOGUE (1950S)

CUI S., HAN J.

Abstract

The article examines the institutional mechanisms of the cultural transmission of Soviet visual arts in China during the 1950s. Using historical analysis and case studies, three key dissemination channels are identified: large-scale art exhibitions, educational programmes (training of Chinese students in the USSR and Professor K. Maximov’s activities), and translation of theoretical literature. Particular focus is placed on the reform of the art education system, including the adoption of Soviet pedagogical standards and the establishment of teaching-research groups. The findings reveal the dual impact of Soviet influence: while contributing to the formation of China’s academic art system, it also led to the dominance of ideological themes and reduced artistic diversity. The study enhances understanding of the role of state institutions in cultural exchange and offers new perspectives for analysing the synthesis of global and national artistic traditions.

ANALYSIS OF ARTISTIC REPRESENTATION AND CULTURAL MEANING OF BIRD IMAGES IN DEHUA PORCELAIN

CHEN S.

Abstract

The article analyses artistic strategies and symbolic meanings associated with bird images in modern Dehua porcelain carving. Four works are considered as an empirical base: “Peacock Spirit” by Su Zhiqiang, “Pearl Shine of Feathers” by Lin Lingyue, “White Heron” by Chen Guiyu and “Swan in the Lake” by Ke Hongjun. The study is based on a comparison of traditional Chinese bird symbolism with modern forms of plastic and gender expression. Particular attention is paid to how the synthesis of dance movement, female corporality and natural metaphors form a new visual language that goes beyond the decorative function. Bird images in these works are interpreted as carriers of not only aesthetic and philosophical concepts, but also as mediators of cultural memory, identity and individual expression. The article reveals the significance of these sculptures in the context of contemporary decorative and applied arts in China and global artistic discourse.
