PECULIARITIES OF ENGLISH POPULAR-SCIENCE TEXTS’ TEACHING TRANSLATION OF SENIOR FORMS OF NON-HUMANITARIAN PROFILE

Abstract

Questions concerning teaching translation of popular-science texts at school are considered. Actuality of the chosen theme is explained by the fact that spheres of a foreign language knowledge are being spread recently. The challenge of specialists with a foreign language knowledge can be seen in scientific, technical and working specialities. This is demonstrated by the growing force of International movement WorldSkills, where a foreign language knowledge is very important for understanding and fulfilling the task. The main peculiarities of scientific style, touching upon the types of text structures, which are very important for teaching translation are described. It is also determined that the translation order of English group words, containing key words and some attributes. As the attribute has not got a constant place in a sentence, it can be used before the key word (left attribute) and after it (right attribute). As a rule, we can observe the right-left translation of such word groups. The process of teaching translation is impossible without understanding the concept scientific world’s view. It is known that every scientific sphere is characterized by phenomena, laws, concepts. The scientific world’s view of senior forms students is formed through the terms and concepts of subject spheres: science, mathematics. It is necessary to note, that acquiring knowledge of scientific style by senior schoolchildren will help them to better the subject knowledge of science direction and to develop the cognition of reality.
