Abstract

In design practice there often arises the problem of assessing the feasibility of installing shunt reactors (SR) when observing conditions of the occurrence of admissible transient recovery voltages at circuit breaker contacts during switching action. A simplified design methodology for this purpose is proposed for calculating the defining parameters of the SR connection circuit, making it possible to define the feasibility of its use in the analyzed circuit.
