Classification and Calculation of Drive Loads
Resumo
To permit calculation of the fatigue strength of drive components, drives are classified in terms of their loading conditions. Formulas are presented for the equivalence factors used in converting the actual variable loading conditions to conventional constant conditions. The overload coefficients required in calculating the static strength of drive components at the peak load are also determined.

Influence of Planetary-Gear Structure on the Load Distribution
Resumo
A method is proposed for determining the load in the gear engagements of a multiflux planetary gear with flexible carrier jaws. The influence of the design and manufacturing errors of the mechanism on the pliability of its components and the nonuniformity of the load distribution over the satellites is determined.

Wheel-Walking Propulsion Unit of a Planetary Rover with Active Suspension
Resumo
The scheme of the propulsion unit with walking mechanism for a wheeled planetary rover is considered. The walking mechanism permits to convert the chassis in a transport position, displacement of rover’s center of mass so as to optimize the load on motor wheels. In wheeled motion the walking mechanism realize function of the active suspension for adaptation of the locomotion system to the surface features. On friable soils where wheeled locomotion is difficult or impossible, wheel-walking mode improves trafficability.

Magnetic-Pulse Shaping of Internal Pipe-Blank Surfaces
Resumo
A finite-element model is proposed for the shaping of internal pipe-blank surfaces by means of the pressure of a magnetic pulse. The roughness of the internal surface after compression onto a mandrel is expressed as a function of the number of loading cycles, the pressure of the pulsed magnetic field, and the initial roughness of the blank.

Influence of Cathode Structure and Configuration on Complex Nitride Coatings
Resumo
The production of complex (multielement) nitride coatings on the basis of different cathode structure and configuration is considered. The coatings obtained by means of one-piece and composite cathodes have different properties. This difference is smaller for multielement coatings.

Antiwear Properties of Coatings on Artillery Barrels
Resumo
Copper-based coatings obtained by nonabrasive antifrictional finishing in a metal-coating bath increase the wear resistance of frictional pairs by a factor of 2.2 and prevent the diffusion of hydrogen into the surface layers of the steel.

Elastomer Heat-Shielding Materials Containing Aluminosilicate Microspheres
Resumo
The influence of hollow aluminosilicate microspheres on the efficiency of elastomeric thermoprotective materials based on ethylene—propylene rubber is considered. The introduction of hollow aluminosilicate microspheres, even in small quantities, decreases the density and heat conductivity of such materials, with no loss of physical and mechanical properties.

Brittle Failure of Low-Carbon Steel Structures at Low Temperatures
Resumo
The brittle failure of metals at low temperature is analyzed. The temperature of ductile—brittle failure depends on the lattice parameter of the metal, while the temperature of brittle failure depends on the type of lattice, the electron structure, and the presence of impurities at the grain boundaries. Means of increasing the brittle strength of the steel at low temperature are proposed.

Additive Manufacturing with Ultrasound
Resumo
Additive manufacturing methods are briefly reviewed. Proposals are outlined for the use of ultrasound in fused deposition modeling (FDM) and selective laser melting (SLM). Approaches to ultrasonic additive manufacturing (UAM) are discussed.

Dimensionless Analysis of Supercharger Turbines in Internal-Combustion Engines
Resumo
Dimensionless characteristics of turbines are discussed. On that basis, a universal method of mathematical approximation is formulated. The approximation of the turbine characteristics in a TKR-10ST turbocompressor is considered, as an example.

Large-Amplitude Ultrasound Systems
Resumo
Large amplitudes are required in many ultrasound systems. Vibrational systems of rod type are used for that purpose. The selection of materials for large-amplitude ultrasound systems is considered. A manufacturing technology for ultrasound vibrational systems is proposed.

Tools for Ultrasound Cleaning
Resumo
Special high-efficiency cleaning methods are required for industrial products, on account of their complex geometry and the wide range of surface contaminants. The design of ultrasonic radiators for that purpose is considered. Geometric aspects of the formation of cavitation regions are discussed.
