Abstract
This paper explores the major challenges of access to information that face the consumers of various databases of the Institute of Scientific Information on Social Sciences (INION) of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The key features of different types of information barriers are investigated. The possibilities and means to overcome these barriers are explored in the current context.
