Abstract
This article examines the problem of the crisis of constituent power in Chile in the early 1970s through the example of the Statute of Constitutional Guarantees, a contract between Parliament and the ascendant Salvador Allende. This topic is examined within the history of ideas framework of A. Negri’s studies of the crises of constituent power. This paper also analyzes some of the reasons for the rapid decline of democratic institutions in Chile in the early 1970s.
