Abstract
Failure of a logging wire under operating loads and corrosive hydrogen sulfide containing environments is considered. Metallographic studies in the region of flaws in the metal of the logging wire are performed. The stress-strain state of the metal is analyzed and mechanical tests are performed. Typical cases of damage of the logging wire are analyzed for determining the main factors lowering its operating capacity and for recommending ways for raising the reliability of logging wires.
