Thermodynamics of oxygen solutions in titanium-containing Fe–Co melts

Aleksandrov A.A., Dashevskii V.Y., Leont’ev L.I.

Abstract

Performed for the first time, the thermodynamic analysis of oxygen solutions in titanium-containing Fe–Co melts showed that the deoxidizing power of titanium with increasing cobalt content of the melt first decreases, reaches a minimum at a cobalt content of 20%, and then increases. The titanium contents [%Ti]* at equilibrium points between the oxide phases TiO2, Ti3O5, and Ti2O3 were determined. The curves of the oxygen solubility in titanium-containing iron–cobalt melts pass through a minimum, which shifts toward lower titanium contents with increasing cobalt content of the melt. Further alloying with titanium leads to an increase in the oxygen concentration of the melt so that the higher cobalt content of the melt, the steeper the increase in the oxygen content after the minimum as titanium is added to the melt.

Electrochemical evaluation of the viability of platelets

Khvatov V.B., Borovkova N.V., Evseev A.K., Goldin M.M., Tsivadze A.Y., Khubutiya M.S., Goroncharovskaya I.V., Andreev V.N., Makarov M.S.

Abstract

The difference between the open-circuit redox potentials of a platinum electrode measured in blood plasma before and after the cryolysis of platelets depends linearly on the content of granule-rich platelets in the plasma. This phenomenon can be used to determine the viability of platelets.

Electrochemical synthesis of cobalt polyporphine films

Istakova O.I., Konev D.V., Devillers C.H., Vorotyntsev M.A., Zyubin A.S., Antipov E.M., Aldoshin S.M.

Abstract

A method for modification of the inert electrode surface with an electroactive polymeric film containing the CoN4 catalytic site has been suggested and approved. The described approach affords the maximal content of the metal porphine moiety per unit weight of the coating. The classical method of introduction of an ion into the porphine macrocycle has been replaced by electrochemical polarization of an electrode with a metallated film in a dilute solution. The metalation efficiency has been demonstrated by the presence of changes in the current–voltage and spectral characteristics of the resulting polymeric films of the unsubstituted porphine pH2P and cobalt polyporphine pCoP.

Generalization of the Nernst layer model to take into account the difference in diffusivity between the components of the system in bromate reduction in steady-state one-dimensional mode: Current limiting by proton transport

Antipov A.E., Vorotyntsev M.A., Tolmachev Y.V., Antipov E.M., Aldoshin S.M.

Abstract

The reduction of nonelectroactive bromate anion BrO3- from acidic solutions while limiting the maximum current by diffusion transport of protons was studied by methods of numerical integration of transport equations. The calculation was performed based on a generalization of the Nernst steady diffusion layer model, in which the choice of the layer thickness for each component of the system is made using the Levich formula and takes into account the difference in diffusivity between the components. This difference in layer thickness was shown to have a significant effect on the main characteristics of the system, such as the maximum possible discharge current, and also the concentration profiles of the components.

Structure formation of sulfonated polyphenylquinoxalines in solution and in the solid state

Bulycheva E.G., Belomoina N.M., Vasiliev V.G., Elmanovich I.V., Wasserman L.A., Hsu S.L., Cheng P.

Abstract

Sulfonated polyphenylquinoxalines with different content of sulfo groups have been synthesized by polymer analogous reactions under different conditions. The rheological properties of these polymers in Nmethylpyrrolidone have been studied. The mechanical properties of films based on sulfonated polyphenylquinoxalines under uniaxial tension have been measured. The structures of the polymers have been examined by AFM.
