Abstract

Creation of Kuibyshev and Nizhnekamsk reservoirs radically changed the structure and functional activity of historically developed ecosystems of former floodplains of Volga and Kama rivers. Due to the abrupt change of hydrological regime, there were significant disturbances in parasitocenosis of some natural focal infections and invasions, epidemiological significance of which in the regional pathology of the republic's population was quite pronounced. Thus, flooding of typical habitats of water vole (floodplain lakes, marshes) led to a significant reduction in the number of the species in reservoirs and thereby weakened epizootic tension of natural foci of floodplain type tularemia.
