Abstract
According to the All-Union Population Census, the average life expectancy in the USSR has reached over 70 years. In terms of the proportion of centenarians in the total population, such republics as Georgia and Azerbaijan are in first and second places in the world (51 or more people aged 100 and over per 100,000 population).
