Vocabulary of the Lak language from the point of view of the sphere of use

an important role in the formation of the national lexical fund was played by the fact that, from the early Middle Ages to the present day, the Laks had their own single political and cultural center, and it is important to emphasize that the center was concentrated throughout this period in the same place – Kumukh. Due to this circumstance, the most socially active part of the Lak population has always been bilingual, that is, in addition to their dialect, they also knew the national language to one degree or another. The vocabulary of a limited sphere of use is usually divided into dialectisms and professionalisms. In the Lak language as a whole, the following functional styles are distinguished: spoken style, neutral style and book style, respectively, the vocabulary used in these styles stands out. Among the lexical units used in colloquial style, in turn, it is customary to distinguish colloquial vocabulary, vernacular vocabulary and roughly vernacular, although it should be noted that it is not always possible to establish a sharp boundary between these groups of words.
