The specifics of communication-oriented methods of teaching English in higher education

the widespread use of communication-oriented methods of teaching foreign languages is based on the need for the formation and improvement of foreign language communicative competence, which allows students to solve various professional tasks more effectively using a foreign language. Currently the development and specialization of these methods continue to improve, depending on the level of education and the language being studied, which justifies the relevance of the research topic. The authors advocate the opinion that the use of a communicative approach in teaching English at the university has certain specifics related, on the one hand, to the characteristics of undergraduate students as subjects of the educational process, and on the other, to the specifics of their training field. As a result of studying the available scientific papers, as well as generalizing and analyzing their own pedagogical experience, the authors described the methodological forms of organizing some communicative-oriented methods of teaching English to bachelors of IT specialties and developed recommendations for conducting discussions, role-playing and business games, as well as modeling imitative communicative situations. This study allows us to formulate conclusions about the features of the teaching methodology within the framework of the communicative approach, as well as its applicability in the distance learning format.
