Abstract

the purpose of the article is to analyze the fundamentals of edutainment in the context of the impact of the information explosion on educational practices. The relevance of the work is due to the need to rethink pedagogical approaches in the era of digital hyperstimulation, when students, being active consumers of TikTok and YouTube content, expect similar interactivity and emotional involvement in the educational process. The theoretical basis of edutainment is determined, which was formed under the influence of several key areas of pedagogy and psychology. In addition, the key characteristics of edutainment are given, which follow from its hybrid nature. The strengths and weaknesses of edutainment are highlighted. In the article, the authors consider such a phenomenon as the information explosion, which is characterized by an exponential increase in the volume of data, and according to the authors, has become a key challenge of the 21st century.
