Abstract
since the beginning of the formation of the medieval university, the predecessor of the modern university, internationalization has been a distinctive feature of the development of higher education. As a result of continuous contacts, mutual exchanges and complementary strengths and weaknesses of higher education in different countries, the modern higher education system in the world has been formed. The internationalization of higher education is a historical phenomenon, and higher education in all major countries of the world has gone through the development process of internationalization - nationalization - internationalization. Therefore, it is very important to analyze and summarize the historical evolution, development and trends of internationalization of higher education in order to identify the problems and countermeasures of internationalization of higher education.
